This position is perfect for someone who is experienced in the ski industry and looking to build on their skill set. As the backbone of the Race Crew you will be an integral member of the team, able to fill in for any role and transport materials and people with snowmobiles and UTVs.

Detailed job description, including responsibilities, work performed, tools or equipment used, etc.:
Daily set-up and breakdown of all Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation, KVC and Snowsports School learning areas, terrain parks and race arenas
Assist with operation of Steamboat’s winter special events, races and NASTAR program
Transport first time skiers to beginner carpet using UTV
Transport race materials to and from venues using snowmobile and/or UTV
Assist Slope Maintenance/groomers with escort of snowcats
Fill in and cover Race Crew staff daily duties as needed
Comply with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
Other duties, as assigned

Minimum skills, experience, and education required for this job:
This position requires a minimum of 2 years full time exposure to the Steamboat Ski Area or a consecutive 2 years employment at another ski area
Winter related special events or race background helpful
Construction background helpful
Effective communication skills required
Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation’s Service Excellence standards
Adhere to all safety policies

Must have valid driver’s license without limitations or restrictions and meet company’s insurability standards (will be required to complete Motor Vehicle Record)

Physical Requirements:
Must be at minimum 18 years of age
Must be, at minimum, an advanced skier (not snowboarder) and have alpine/tele equipment
Ski while carrying additional objects weighing up to 50 lbs. (fence, slalom poles, etc.)
Work in extreme conditions on uneven terrain for long periods of time (9-10 hours per day)
Shovel snow and work in inclement weather
Operate a snowmobile and UTV - training will be provided
Must have a valid driver’s license

Miscellaneous information:
This is an hourly non-exempt position and is subject to overtime pay
Position is required to work weekends and holidays
Pursuant to county and/or state orders and company policies, every employee is required to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms, practice social distancing, wash hands frequently, wear a mask per current guidelines, self-report and call in immediately and stay home if sick and assist with sanitizing and disinfecting work areas. Employees must follow all resort mitigation plans and protocols, which can be found posted on resort buildings and on Beekeeper

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Steamboat area base hourly pay rate: $15.50 per hour
