Director of Child Care - Year Round - Full Time

- Secure suitable space to operate Steamboat Childcare Center (SCC)
- Ensure all regulatory requirements are met for the space and operations
- Develop and implement operating budget including pricing structure
- Procure all necessary equipment for operations
- Develop staffing plan and hire to it
- Develop opening and growth timeline for the future
- Direct and assist teachers with daily childcare duties to include feeding, changing, rest time, educational
- development, and planned activities.
- Maintain all necessary records and forms.
- Direct teachers in maintaining the center in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
- Set and maintain center’s operational policies and procedures.
- Hire, supervise, schedule, train, and discipline employees and help arrange work schedules.
- Consult with registered nurse each month, and communicate information to parents, and staff that were not present.
- Report and correct any unsafe conditions like the 4 foot rule.
- Plan monthly field trips and snack menu for children.
- Help teachers plan and hold conferences for toddlers and preschoolers.
- Carry out all administrative duties of the center
- Maintaining compliance with all state rules and regulations
- Understand and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and other regulatory requirements.
- Ensure understanding and compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements including payroll and benefits.
- Other duties, as assigned.
- Director Qualifications - Large Child Care Center [Rev. eff. 5/1/10] with at least one of the following:
- A 4-year college degree with a major such as recreation, education with a specialty in art, elementary or early childhood education, or a subject in the human service field.
- Two years of college training and 6 months of satisfactory and verifiable full-time or equivalent part-time, paid or volunteer, experience, since attaining the age of 18, in the care and supervision of 4 or more children
- Three years of satisfactory and verifiable full-time or equivalent part-time, paid or volunteer, experience, since attaining the age of 18, in the care and supervision of 4 or more children. The program director must complete 6 semester hours, 9 quarter hours in course work from a regionally accredited college or university, or 40 clock hours of training in course work applicable to school-age children within the first 9 months of employment.
- Ability to direct operations to open facility
- Strong proven leadership skills with the ability to maintain a calm demeanor under stressful situations is essential for this position.
- Ability to schedule staff, create spreadsheets and plan activities for different ages.
- Previous Camp and Supervisory experience.
- Ability to maintain calm, friend demeanor with guests and staff at times in a stressful environment.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook applications
- Ability to problem-solve in a highly effective manner and maintain positive relationships with guests and staff, including management, subordinates and co-workers.
- Ability to be a consistent role model for company’s Service Excellence standards
- Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 20 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time

- Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis.
- Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and basic office equipment on a constant basis.

- Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing and pulling on an occasional basis.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
- Must be able to work in both and indoor, and sometimes inclement outdoor environments; must communicate clearly (written and oral) in English
- Ability to safely operate company vehicles including up to 37 passenger shuttle van. CDL class C with Passenger license required and must meet company’s driver insurability standards.

The base salary pay range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation salary pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.
Steamboat area base salary pay range: $45,000 - $65,000per year
