Consultis is hiring a Network Specialist for our client with the position located in Anchorage AK. This is a contract to hire with a long-time client in the early stages of a multi-year contract.

We are offering RELOCATION assistance and there is a COLA bonus along with base salary. The Network Specialist ensures that the LAN/WAN is capable of providing required services by supporting the network infrastructure through the use of troubleshooting and problem resolution in a production environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides daily operational support for LAN/WAN networks, including fire walls
  • Resolves technical issues associated with network and routing protocols at all levels of the OSI model utilizing diagnostic and network administration tools such as Hewlett Packard (HP) OpenView, Cisco Works and Tivoli
  • Maintains LAN/WAN barrier systems to prevent unauthorized access
  • Provide overall network infrastructure support to routing and switching equipment, firewalls and IDS/IPS, and associated cabling
  • Plan, install, and support hardware and software upgrades and resolves associated technical issues

Requirements

Knowledge and skills:
  • Clear understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP, SHTTP, SMTP, SNMP, DNS, DHCP, EIGRP, OSPF, and EIA/TIA cable standards
  • Understanding of Management Information Blocks (MIB) and MRTG to measure, plan and execute methodologies to ensure high performance and minimum downtime
  • Must be familiar with Cisco firewalls, Cisco, Alcatel, Hewlett-Packard, Nortel and NetScreen VPN devices and IDSs
  • Strong network experience maintaining switches and routers and troubleshooting LAN/WAN problems
  • Good knowledge of general security methodologies
  • Expertise in Windows Networks, Cisco Systems and HP OpenView desired
  • Must have strong oral and written communications skills

Education and work experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering or related technical discipline and 3 years related experience or;
  • Completion of certification program at a technical or vocational school and 8 years related experience
  • Compliance with DoD Directive 8570.01 “Information Assurance Training, Certification, and Workforce Management required
  • IAT Level II or equivalent certification required
  • Security+ CE certification
  • Current CCNA, or equivalent
  • Clearance: Current US GOV Position-of-Trust
