Job DetailsPosition Purpose: As a Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer, you will support the engineering team in design, analysis, testing and prototyping of flight hardware for payload structures. Working within the engineering group, you'll be tasked with working with Bus and Propulsion providers as well as internal stakeholders, investigating design problems, providing justification of decision making and bringing a sound technical approach. This position will allow you to work independently and exercise your judgment, as well as be part of a cross-specialty team to solve the engineering problems that accompany payload structure design in space.Job Responsibilities:Spacecraft structure design including supports, mounting of hardware, connection to Bus spacecraftSpacecraft system architecture affecting the mission as a whole and the products that will interface with the payloadAnalyses required to satisfy internal requirements for spacecraft performance, life, and environmentModelling and design documentation of the mechanical systems using CADSupport of assembly and test including performance, shock, vibration and space environmentsProactively identify roadblocks to technical progress and take steps to mitigate/avoidProduce a quality engineering product on timeGive effective presentations to the team and customersEstablish and maintain effective working relationships within the department. Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environmentRequired Qualifications:US Person (Citizen or Permanent Resident)BS in Mechanical (or Aerospace) Engineering with 5+ years of experience OR MS with 3+ years of experienceProficient with computer aided design and analysis toolsExperience developing mechanical structures for space applicationsWorking knowledge of spacecraft designExperience with analysis software tools, such as AnsysInterested in hearing more?
