Job Description: This position uses a blend of DevOps, DBA and Systems Administration skills. This position requires an individual with 6+ years of experience in enterprise software maintenance and support. The production support specialist must have experience in software maintenance, support, and operations and will ensure the functionality and usability of internal software applications while diagnosing and resolving application issues. Additionally, the production support specialist must have experience supporting applications in the cloud. The production support specialist must have a solid understanding of cloud DB technologies such as Snowflake, and the ability to write queries against Snowflake and develop scripts using Python/PowerShell that Extract, Transform and Load data. The production support specialist will be responsible for performing daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly operation tasks required for ongoing functionality of software applications. Troubleshoot errors and production problems via help desk tickets, and initiate corrective actions, along with preventive techniques where appropriate. The position is responsible for creating operational run books and other documents related to production control work as needed. On-premise work in Rockville, MD is required.

Required Education, Technical Experience and Skills:
  • 4-6 years of related IT experience in operations, handling production support issues or application development and also supporting applications on the cloud.
  • Bachelor' or Masters degree in computer science or related field
  • Significant experience with AWS platform services (certification would be a plus)
  • Significant Code/Script development using PowerShell, Python
  • Significant Experience supporting AWS based applications
  • Experience working with Snowflake
  • Proficient with ETL/ELT processes with hands on knowledge of SSIS and other database extraction tools
  • ServiceNow administration/development
  • SQL server 2012, SSIS, SSRS
  • Working knowledge of stored procedures and T-SQL
  • Experience working with Code versioning systems (TFS/SVN/GIT)
  • Experience working Ticketing systems (JIRA/Service Now)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office toolset

Required Soft Skills:
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to work independently or in team settings on complex production issues.
  • Candidate should have effective verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate across different levels of the organization
  • Working ability to effectively recognize and manage interpersonal communication needs
  • Ability to analyze, resolve and document problems and resolutions
  • Ability to work as part of a cross-cultural teams, excellent inter-personal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation and negotiation. Ability to work independently or part of a team.
  • Understanding of software development process, change management and incident management.
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to work independently or in team settings on complex production issues.
