Job Title: Home Delivery Manager

Hours: Full-time, 36 hrs per week, Mon-Thurs

Location: Washougal

Meals on Wheels People enriches the lives of older adults and supports them in maintaining independence by providing nutritious food, human connections, and social support. With the help of more than 5,500 volunteers, our nonprofit organization delivers over 5,700 meals daily and more than 1.3 million meals each year across Multnomah, Washington, and Clark Counties.

General Summary

The Home Delivery Manager is responsible for the daily Meals on Wheels home delivery services in North Portland. This includes the recruitment, management, and development of volunteers. Create opportunities to increase diverse community involvement through our social programs. Develop and maintain local partnerships and contracts with senior services. Actively participate in improving the organization through committee leadership and/or special projects supporting our Strategic Plan.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Manage the safe and efficient preparation of Meals on Wheels home delivery services.

Achieve client satisfaction benchmarks of the Strategic Plan.

Ensure site operations remain within the approved budget, monitoring inventory and expenses to meet budget goals.

Follow all guidelines to create and maintain a safe work environment for participants and volunteers.

Recruit, screen, train, schedule, and recognize volunteers.

Active in committee leadership and/or special projects in support of the Strategic Plan.

Develop and maintain effective community relations within the local service area.

Manage assigned meal service partnerships and contracts for food insecure and isolated populations.

Assist with planning and executing regional community events that generate awareness of Meals on Wheels People services leading to annual fundraising and other community development goals.

Complete all required administrative tasks.

Ensure Meals on Wheels People's property and inventories are properly maintained and secured.

Participate in training, committees and attend required meetings.

Support the mission, vision, values, and strategic plan of Meals on Wheels People, Inc.

Other duties as assigned

Education & Knowledge

High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate certification or two years work experience in, Gerontology, Management, Social Work, Community Nutrition, or other related field preferred

Knowledge of foodservice procedures and current Food Handler's Card

Current ServSafe certification or ability to obtain one within 18 months of hire

Skills, Abilities & Experience

COVID 19 vaccination required.

Minimum 2 years of experience in nutrition management or program management position

Bilingual/Bicultural English/Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Asian, or African languages strongly preferred

Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and transportation required.

Proven ability to effectively engage and manage a team of employees and volunteers

Excellent organizational, record keeping, time management and multi-tasking skills, including the ability to set priorities and be flexible to last-minute changes

Skill and motivation to work and communicate with multicultural and socially diverse populations, including aging, minority, low income, and persons with disabilities.

Proven experience in effectively managing budgets and fundraising activities.

Willing to work extended hours to support special activities and other deadlines

Any satisfactory combination of experience, training and/or education that ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above qualifications.
