What We're Looking For

The Software Engineer has a strong emphasis on Fabrication within our manufacturing environment. This includes exposure to new technologies and automated equipment which create opportunities for developing new technical skills. This position would be leading a team of hard-working individuals and state of the art manufacturing equipment working in a hands-on manufacturing environment where safety & quality are of upmost importance. Individuals in this role can expect to work amongst various disciplines of Engineers, Maintenance, and Operations professionals in our manufacturing atmosphere. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

The Software Engineer helps EMIT build the best in natural gas compression by developing and supporting the controls product through computer programming, testing, and coding.

This role is responsible for the infrastructure around the gathering of remote data for unit reporting, tracking, and history, along with real time shutdowns and predictive analytics. In addition, the Software Engineer develops web-based tools for both clients and internal employees.

Key Accountabilities

  • Management of product requirements and project planning of future features
  • Plan basic architecture and user interface
  • Develop new full stack web software supporting incoming communication, database action, frontend serving of information
  • Develop and execute code tests
  • Create internal and external documentation
  • Interact with customers for gathering product needs and assisting with troubleshooting
  • Regularly work and interact with a small group of Engineers with different disciplines
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance existing systems and applications

Job Requirements

  • Independent thinking, initiative, and decisiveness to drive the product area forward
  • Solid background in web development
  • Knowledge and experience with SQL, C#, Angular, Python, HTML, CSS
  • Knowledge of IIS, Microsoft Azure, and related tools a plus
  • Knowledge of oil and gas industry a plus
  • Flexible and proactive problem solver adept at achieving results in a team-oriented and collaborative environment, but also able to function effectively working independently
  • Ambition to learn new processes and suggest process improvements
  • Develop a working understanding of the natural gas industry and our customers
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or large body of experience in field
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in application development preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Lifting: Occasionally raising objects weighing up to 25 pounds from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Talking: Often expressing or exchanging ideas through spoken word; detailed direction must be conveyed accurately and quickly.

  • Hearing: Often perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Repetitive Motions: Frequently making substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Visual Acuity: Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection) close to the eyes.

Work Conditions

  • Team Member is subject to inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • May require occasional field work, about 2-4 times per year, where systems are tested with customers at oilfield sites
