CERTIFIED MEDICAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTS - Wanted

The University of the Incarnate Word, School of Professional Studies is offering an exciting opportunity for those interested in beginning a new career as a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA). We have tailored the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant program to fit the busy schedules of students with career, life and family obligations.

This course is designed to prepare students to successfully pass the National Healthcareer Association exam and directly enter the exciting field of Medical Administrative Assisting. Our program includes a well-blended mix of classroom, audio-visual presentation and hands-on shadow experience at local Family Practices. Instruction is provided by experienced, licensed current practitioners in the field of Medical Administrative Assisting.

As a CMAA, you may perform some or all of the following tasks:

Answer office telephones

Greet patients and facilitate the check-in process

Maintain medical records (updating, filing, etc.)

Completing and filling out insurance forms

Handling office correspondence (e.g. mail and email)

Scheduling patient appointments

Coordinating hospital admissions and laboratory services

Assisting with billing and bookkeeping
