Facility Director Job Description

JOB TITLE: Facility Director

REPORTS TO: Facility Owners

HOURS: Full-time

JOB SUMMARY: The Facility Director provides leadership, direction, and supervision to ensure best practices in animal care and client care for all day to day operations for daycare, boarding, grooming and training. The Facility Director works in close partnership with the Owners to consistently meet the goals of Smarter than your Dog (STYD) as set forth by the Owners, Facility Director and employees of STYD. This Leadership position is responsible for all operational aspects of managing STYD inclusive of operations, sales, and customer service. The Facility Director provides team leadership and ensures staff maintains facility cleanliness and dog health and safety standards, according to company policy and procedures (policy and procedures are actively being developed). This person upholds and grows facility reputation through client relationship building and forging business partnerships. This important leadership role is responsible for maintaining accountability and safety for a team of up to 20 employees while running a facility of up to 80 dogs per day. Multi-tasking, working hands on with staff, maintaining organization, attention to detail and time management are all qualities that are essential to the Facility Director position.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to and works closely in open partnership with the Owners to solidify policies and design day to day operations. The Facility Director provides direct supervision to the Facility Lead, Groomers, Dog Daycare Technician and Boarding Technicians. Oversees facility care and maintenance.

HOURS AND SCHEDULE: Arrival and departure will be determined by facility demands. Most often working hours will be from 6:45 and to 3:00 pm Monday to Friday and occasionally Saturday and Sunday to assist in covering a boarding shift if there is a need. Call will be essential all times when the Owner is not accessible or on vacation. Taking “call” includes fielding phone calls, answering emails, reassigning shifts for sick calls and being available in the event of a facility and/or dog emergency. It is the “on call” staff's responsibility to respond to dog and facility emergencies, including transport to veterinarian care as needed. In the event that replacement staff is not found to cover the sick call, it is the call staff's responsibility to cover the shift for additional compensation. Additional pay will be provided for accepting an “on call” shift. In combination with all staff, the Facility Director must assist in covering holiday boarding shifts. The Facility Director can expect to work on average 32 to 40+ hours per week.

The responsibilities of the Facility Director include, but may not be limited to the following:

1. Staff Management - Responsible for assisting, in combination with the Owner, to train, develop and coach STYD team members. In partnership with the Owners, create a positive team environment while upholding facilities policies and procedures. Regularly offer feedback to assist in team members overall growth.

2. Safety and Health - Maintain all safety and health procedures throughout the facility. Offers conversations with clients concerning any potential issues with their dog. Delegate boarding and daycare tasks daily.

3. Administrative – Work directly with our clientele in the front office, as needed, in a reception capacity answering phone calls, scheduling, billing, delivering exceptional customer service, and achieving facility sales goals. Assists in proactively marketing the business to raise revenue and increase repeat clientele.

4. Customer Service & Presentation - Maintain organization in the facility and cleanliness standards of the entire team as required per company policy and standards. Practices professional internal and external customer service consistently.

5. Symbolic Leadership - Leads by example in every decision and action. Maintains accountability and oversight of the facility and team seeking out ways to improve profitability and efficiency toward higher goals. This includes upholding the company values and integrity.

6. Social Media - Take and post appropriate pictures on social media. All pictures taken should represent proper social play and relationships with dogs. Pictures taken at STYD should not be posted on personal social media venues. Always adhering to the individually signed employee contract regarding confidentiality and upholding STYD’s reputation at all times.

7. Other- Communicates opening and freely with the Owners, Facility Lead, Groomers and STYD team members.

8. Good faith-The Facility Director must demonstrate that they can be trusted to care for the dogs independently, open and lock down the facility, follow the cleaning procedures to ensure the safety of staff and dogs, adhere to the social media policy, always maintain client confidentiality regarding any personal information in Gingr and never share or retain client information for personal use or non STYD operations.
