GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Supervisor of Communications and Outreach, the Social Media/E-Marketing Specialist will engage in planning, developing, and executing strategies and practices which ultimately will result in improved consumer experiences for BCBSWY customers. The Social Media E-Marketing Specialist will use versatile and creative communications and strong collaboration skills to facilitate the accomplishment of assigned duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES [Core 25d]

• Prepares engaging and effective copy across channels, including emails, letters, digital ads, social media, brochures, landing pages, direct mail and more.

• Assists in planning and executing the organization’s communications strategy focusing on practices to improve the consumer experience.

• Develops new and creative ways to generate excitement and enthusiasm through content creation

• Maintains current knowledge of all social media platforms relevant to BCBSWY and develops content and growth strategies for new and emerging channels (e.g. IG reels, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn).

• Maintains BCBSWY social media calendar and postings.

• Assists with different graphic design projects.

• Work closely with marketing services team on projects involving Social Media or E-Marketing components.

• Develops reporting mechanisms to track and show metrics of successful communication initiatives.

• Participates in the development of organizational events used to increase awareness and engagement with BCBSWY.

• Works towards quality initiatives.

• Maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

• Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & ABILITY: [Core 25b]

• Excellent copywriting and proofreading skills, with ability to write concisely in a variety or voices across platforms.

• Ability to tailor communications to effectively connect with diverse audiences.

• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

• Collaborative, team player capable of working with minimal direct supervision.

• Ability to travel and work after normal business hours and on weekends as needed.

• Proficient in MS Office Suite, Adobe desktop publishing software (or similar program), graphic design experience a plus.

• Photography or videography experience preferred.

EDUCATION, LICENSURE, OR FORMAL TRAINING: [Core 25a & 25c]

• Bachelor’s degree (in communications, marketing, English, journalism or related area) required; equivalent relevant experience in a health care organization may be considered in lieu of degree.

• Must possess and maintain a current and valid driver’s license

EXPERIENCE: [Core 25a]

Three to five years’ experience working with new and traditional media, web content, design, public speaking, public relations.

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:

Personal Computer, scanner, fax machine, telephone, copy machine, adding machine or calculator.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

Works in an open office environment. Must be able to accomplish objectives in finite periods of time, accommodate multiple tasks and adapt to stressful situations.
