  • Master's or PhD degree in statistics, applied mathematics, financial mathematics, computer science, engineering, operations research, or other highly quantitative field; or a Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field with at least five (5) years of relevant professional experience. In either case, the candidate will demonstrate a consistent track record of academic excellence.
  • Experience and demonstrated success directly supporting internal or external clients over a period of at least two (2) years and at least two (2) years of professional experience performing analytic work , preferably in industries served by TransUnion. These experiences may or may not overlap.
  • Demonstrated interest in industries served by TransUnion, such as financial services, insurance, fraud, and digital marketing.
  • Ability to apply strong project and time management skills to lead multiple projects simultaneously with limited supervision in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
  • Evidence of strong analytical, critical, and creative thinking and willingness to take initiative in problem-solving.
  • Versatile interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels within and outside the organization
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a complex and dynamic, matrix environment.
  • Advanced programming skills and aptitude; proficiency with statistical programs such as R or Python; experience with other programming and data manipulation languages (SQL, Hive, Spark, C/C, Java, Ab Initio); high level of familiarity with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to travel 10-20% of the time.

This position supports the data science innovation team that is responsible for managing a portfolio of research initiatives aimed at developing new analytic capabilities for TransUnion's analytic toolkit. Through this innovation, TransUnion brings value to the various industries that it serves in the form of new state-of-the-art products and customer consulting engagements.
  • Contribute to the development of a robust research portfolio by partner with internal and external cross-functional teams to assess the needs of the business in an objective and quantifiable way and determine feasible research initiatives that may help address these needs.
  • Work with DSI leadership to devise a research idea evaluation and prioritization process by collecting and synthesizing data across stakeholders and research contributors and converting into a set of recommendations for DSA leadership that are grounded on both quantitative and qualitative factors.
  • Oversee and/or lead a variety of research projects in collaboration with DSA peers, providing general project management and aligning with management and stakeholders to validate direction and progress of research projects. Ensure project deliverables and timelines are met and escalate issues as appropriate, providing creative input to find alternative solutions as applicable.
  • Enhance DSA' s marketing strategy, by contributing to the creation of a robust narrative around DSA's value proposition. Contributions should be original, based on research initiatives, and should emphasize DSA's capabilities with compelling business use cases. In this capacity, the Consultant will work closely with DSI leadership and its Corporate Marketing partners to provide ideas and collateral materials, and will actively contribute to the message, narrative, and delivery tools and channels associated with DSA's marketing efforts.
  • Support DSA's efforts around the cultivation and protection of intellectual property regarding analytic capabilities and innovation, including collaborating with TransUnion's Legal Department and other stakeholders to define and support an analytic patent strategy. Additionally, help to manage and maintain a DSA knowledge repository, including both original work, as well as reviewed literature, relevant blog publications, and conference presentations in a user-friendly shareable environment.
  • As needed, support thought leadership efforts to showcase DSA's general capabilities and research at internal or external events, either as a presenter or in an advisory/consulting capacity.
