Job Description: Position SummaryThis role is within the Scientific Computing Services group and will partner with business sponsors and other internal IT service teams to plan, build and run strategic IT capabilities in support of scientific workflows.The Full-Stack Web Developer in Scientific Computing Services is accountable for Build and Run support of local IT capabilities and systems. Full-Stack Web Developer will be implementing applications into the cloud.As the Web Developer, you will be responsible for building high performant, scalable, complex distributed system, and resilient cloud solutions end to end. Individual must have a strong technical foundation as well as a full understanding of common coding standards, configuration management, and full life cycle systems development. Be able to work effectively with other developers and non-technical staff from other business units. Must have the ability to design and present good UI interfaces to wide range of audiences. Individual should be a fast learner of new technologies, be a creative thinker, share skills and information freely.This is a hands-on role requiring significant knowledge of the frontend technologiesKnowledge and implementation of application in cloud platform and enterprise-level patterns are expected.This individual will directly or indirectly assists project teams develop unusually technical or challenging project components. Desired ExperienceA. Required:Strong experience in one or more programming languages and remain open to learn new ones (most of our code is in C#. JavaScript, Typescript, but our technology stack is diverse and we like to choose technology that best meets a need)Must have hands on experience in designing, developing and building cloud solutions for a diverse and challenging set of customers ranging from small to large enterprises projects.Must have hands-on experience implementing modern technologies, such as ORM (Entity Framework), Messaging (e.g., SQS, AMQP), Mobility (Semantic UI, Bootstrap), Database (SQL Server 2016 or later, MySQL, PostgreSQL); Web Services (REST, SOAP, GraphQL) using (WebAPI); Microservices; Cloud Computing(e.g., AWS backend services like API Gateway, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, etc); Search platform (e.g. Solr, Elastic Search);Proficiency in handcrafting clean, valid, maintainable and semantically correct HTML5, CSS3 & JavaScript that works across modern browsers, including on Android and iOS devices.Experience developing with web programming frameworks and libraries such as AngularJS, React, Backbone, etc.Demonstrated knowledge of common server-side and client-side design patterns and practices.Strong knowledge of, and experience following, Agile, formal SDLC processes, configuration management, and change control practicesExcellent communication and collaboration skills are required.Ability to work independently and as a key contributor in a distributed team environmentMust be a self-starter with the ability to think outside the box to come up with innovative ideasB. Ideal Candidates Would Also Have:Experience working with front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML, and CSS3.Deploying code to staging and production serversStrong unit testing and debugging skillsC. Other QualificationsBS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or other related technical degree or equivalent experience10+ years professional Information Technology experienceExperience in Biopharmaceutical industry, particularly in drug discovery area, is a plusFamiliarity with cloud platforms (Preferably AWS), is a plus.Self-motivated to stay on top of developments in web technology and programmingAdditional Job Requirements:None
