The Impact You’ll MakeThe Product Owner will support the product life cycle process to meet company goals by translating product roadmap features into well-defined requirements for our development team to bring to life. You will have the opportunity to craft dynamic experiences for customers to help them successfully complete transactions while discovering new content and programs that benefit both themselves and the environment. You will liaison with cross-functional teams to help us grow our digital channel to meet both our customer and organizational aspirations. This hybrid role is part of our Digital Customer Operations team. This flexible opportunity allows you to work remotely, if desired, and have periodic opportunities to collaborate with team members in person.

What You Will do:
  • Support the product lifecycle process based on Consumers Energy’s business goals
  • Translate product roadmap features into product requirements including epics, user stories, and acceptance test criteria for development team.
  • Work in an Agile environment and continuously review the business needs, refine priorities, outline achievements and deliverables, and ensure a constant stream of work for the development team.
  • Participate in problem solving activities to identify opportunities to improve customer satisfaction for the mobile channel.
  • Break-fix investigation and troubleshooting with cross-functional teams.
  • Define scope and/or guide creation of documentation for development team.
  • Utilize data insights to drive direction and evolution of product and obtain buy-in from business partners.

What you bring to the table:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in agile environment working with technical teams, bridging the gap between team, stakeholders, and business partners
  • 2-4 years digital product owner experience
  • Experience with a native mobile app will set you apart
  • Organized – good planner, able to coordinate complex assignments, multiple team tasks, and balance competing priorities
  • Great communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Exceptional problem solving and analysis skills, paired with the ability to communicate findings to all levels of organization & digital expertise
  • Leadership – assertive, confident, proactive, not afraid to speak up and ask questions. Comfortable proposing and providing rationale for solutions
  • Self-motivated with a great work ethic
  • Comfortable in both team environment and working independently
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards a plus (WCAG 2.1 AA Compliant and beyond as compliance needs evolve).

Hours and Travel:.This is a full-time position. Base work location can be remote or, if preferred by the candidate, could be any of our various Consumers Energy Offices in Michigan. While daily work location can be of the team member’s choice, there may be periodic opportunities to collaborate with team members in-person. While not a common need, the position may include providing support during evening, weekend/holiday timeframes.
