Location: San Jose, CA Description: The Staff UX Designer will be responsible for the conceptual design, development, and execution of product design UX solutions for Client Endoscopy surgical visualization iSuite integration solutions.The focus will be on digital user experience (UX), workflows and the design of elegant graphic user interfaces (UI) for products in the clinical surgical environment. You will solve critical UX design issues for products today and have the chance to imagine the surgical device and operating room user of the future. This role requires an equal command of rational and creative thinking processes. UX Designers own the full-stack design process - from concept exploration to interaction wireframes to detailed UX specs. The successful candidate will partner with other designers, systems engineers, usability, and marketing stakeholders to identify and filter user needs, formulating the creation of innovative products with a strong value proposition that you will drive through development and execution. The position will require collaboration as part of a diverse R&D product development team located in the US (San Jose, CA and Flowermound, Tx), Canada (Burnaby, BC) and India (Gurgaon, Delhi). There will be potential opportunities for travel to Client R&D sites and/ or to visit customers in the field.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: This position requires knowledge that is acquired through experience, specialized education, or training. Masters, or bachelor's required or years of professional experience in UX/Industrial Design, Design Research, Design Strategy, or related field 5+ years professional experience within a product development setting as a UX/Industrial Designer, UX Researcher, Design Researcher, Design Strategist or Service Designer A professional portfolio with examples that demonstrate technical and design ability as part of end-to-end product development.Additional Job Details:Primary Responsibilities: With limited supervision: Leverage Human Centered Design (HCD) evaluative and generative research methodologies to conduct user research that generates meaningful insights (understanding the needs of customers -clinical end-users, patients, and the environments in which our products are used) and inform the creation of new products. Travel to clinical sites to interview end-users, demonstrate prototypes and observe clinical procedures. Develop product design concepts and prototypes for the purposes of better understanding the product needs, testing hypotheses and the definition of product (from sketches to UX workflows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes). Exhibit a strong competency in rapid prototyping techniques (paper and digital). Translate complex, high-level ideas into resolved product design concepts: develop user workflows, create wireframes, design and interface mockups, and interactive prototypes communicate elegant and intuitive product experiences. Participate (and sometimes lead) in all stages of the product development lifecycle. Conduct user testing to refine and validate product concepts and prototypes. Lead design reviews, communicate design concepts to key stakeholders, contribute to roadmap planning, and sprint planning. Help to plan (and sometimes facilitate or lead) design thinking and human-centered design workshops focused on research planning, data synthesis, concept generation, or project alignment. Advocate for the design process and design thinking Business Responsibilities: Build a good understanding of Client's customers and portfolio. Understand the intended use of Endoscopy products and how they are used in clinical procedures.
