If you are looking to effect change and make an impact from the ground up, keep reading.We have an opening for a Cloud Software Infrastructure Developer. You will develop and support a robust, scalable, and operational cloud native infrastructure that enables 24x7 operations. This position is in the Global Security Computing Applications Division (GS-CAD) in the Computing Directorate, matrixed to the Global Security Directorate.This position will be filled at eitherlevel based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.In this roleyou will- Provide moderately complex computer science and software development support using industry standard software development practices in Python, C, and C within Linux, UNIX, and/or Windows environments.
- Develop RESTful APIs and microservices for various architecture components to interact with data stores, modeling tools and other applications, generate vector tiles, among other features.
- Automate data ingestion tasks and develop libraries for data analysis.
- Contribute to the continuous integration and continuous deployment by developing automated unit tests, deployment scripts, and other tools in collaboration with the DevOps team.
- Participate in the requirements definition, analysis, design, implementation, debugging, testing, and optimization of computer programs on workstations, servers, and cloud-based environments.
- Collaborate with a diverse development team to share relevant knowledge, opinions, and recommendations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Design, implement, deploy, and maintain complex software systems using advanced object-oriented analysis, design, and programming techniques.
- Provide solutions to complex problems involving largely identifiable factors.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Experience developing software with Python and C using object oriented concepts within Linux and/or Windows environments.
- Skilled in all aspects of software project life cycle: feasibility, requirements, design, implementation, integration, test and deployment using Agile methodologies and tools (e.g. Git, Jira, Confluence).
- Experience designing and developing microservices and managing containerized environments.
- Broad experience designing and managing databases or implementing software delivery processes.
- Ability to effectively manage concurrent technical tasks with competing priorities and meet deadlines that are important to project success.
- Effective interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of personnel with the ability to work independently in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to prepare, present, and document technical information.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Significant experience providing innovative approaches and applying new technologies to broadly defined tasks and projects.
- Significant experience applying effective analytical and problem-solving skills to complex problems, as well as experience delivering production quality software.
- Knowledge and experience with energy and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Modeling and simulation tools like HELICS, geospatial analysis tools like ESRI products, or open-source equivalents like QGIS. Significant experience creating and/or modifying deployment files for Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience in the following:
- RESTful API design and development of microservices
- SQL and NoSQL databases, preferably using Postgres and MongoDB
- Docker and Kubernetes to troubleshoot a containerized environment
- Security including JSON web tokens, private/public keys, and/or encryption
- Network programming experience
- Log management tools like Grafana or ELK, static analysis tool like SonarQube, and power system tools like PowerWorld Simulator
