Receive, unpack, and place material in designated storage locations. Reports damages and discrepancies for accounting, reimbursement, and record-keeping purposes. Completes shipping and receiving reports. Works hand and hand with customer service and production. Receives material into the building and issues material to specific jobs for production.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments of material and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

Affixes labels to material for tractability identifying shipping information for material documentation and storage when received in.

Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers to send out bar stock or larger parts.

Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape, using strapping machine.

Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with customer service to rectify damages and shortages. Mainly bar stock orders.

Routes items to departments. Grinds and turns points on bar stock and puts at the machines from the bill of material that is generated per each job.

Issue material and log the material in and out of ERP software. Allocate material to jobs in ERP software.

Notifies supervisors and quality control of bars received in from grind and what they need to measure. Micrometer use and caliper use for material measurement.

Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications for outside process or larger parts to customers.

Maintains inventory for raw materials and all receiving supplies.

Operate fork truck or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work area. Load and unload trucks on the loading dock. Usually 55 gallon drums and also 12ft bar stock.

May be designated to pick up and deliver parts and bar stock to local vendors. Valid driver’s license needed.

Maybe asked to complete other jobs throughout the shop and help in other areas when needed. Reliable, strong work ethic, team player, and good team attitude are key.

Education & Experience:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 1-2 year experience in a related role. Training will be provided. Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within inventory management/shipping field. Good computer skills, including ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Suites and tools. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications, and communicate with others on basic technical issues. General knowledge of MRP/ERP software.

Work Environment:

Flexible workweek; hours may vary. Extended hours and/or overtime may be required based on workload. General work area is in a manufacturing plant environment where high levels of noise and/or heat do frequently occur. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, various electrical components and may come in contact with petroleum-based lubricants. Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, and airborne particles may occur.

The physical demands listed are essential in order for the employee to successfully perform the job. The employee will occasionally be required to physically lift, pull, push or apply force up to 50 lbs. Frequent bending, stooping, pulling and twisting may be required. Extended periods of sitting, standing, crawling, kneeling and walking are frequently required. The employee must have constant free mobility of hands, wrists and arms in order to operate hand and power tools and electronic equipment. Some physical/mechanical dexterity required.
