Cheney Millwork is a custom wood-working company that specializes in designer-grade cabinetry, furniture, signage, doors, and other related products. We are looking to hire a skilled wood finisher to shape and finish our customers' products. As a wood finisher, you will be required to examine the product, identify damaged areas, disassemble the basic parts, and smooth or shape the wood. You will also be required to apply finishing lubricants/paint to achieve the desired color and design.

To ensure success as a wood finisher, you should have advanced woodworking skills, good knowledge of finishing techniques, and a good eye for detail. A top-class wood finisher expertly restores and finishes wooden items to meet the needs of the client.

Wood Finisher Responsibilities:

Disassembling the furniture or wooden item

Removing imperfections, and filling in cracks

Sanding and smoothing the item in preparation for finishing

Selecting and applying finishing lubricants such as varnish, stains, or shellac

Painting product to desired color

Final inspection of finished product

Ability to read and interpret shop drawings

Pouring epoxy finish on products

Wood Finisher Requirements:

High school diploma or GED

Previous experience as a Wood Finisher is required

Strong attention to detail

In-depth knowledge of staining and finishing techniques

Excellent hand-eye coordination

Advanced design skills

Good communication skills

Experience with hand and power tools

Possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle to travel to job sites as required

Able to speak, read and write Basic English

Ability to comprehend basic arithmetic and mathematical equations

Able to work overtime as required

Ability to perform physical activities including but not limited to:

Walking, standing, kneeling, and crouching throughout the day while working on various projects

Ability to frequently lift loads over 50 pounds

Able to comply with and wear common protective or safety equipment and follow safety best-practices including but not limited to:

Proper footwear

Glasses

Gloves

Hearing protection

Breathing protection

Hard hats (when needed)

Maintain a clean working environment (includes daily shop clean-up duties)
