We are unique in that we have a rich and storied history dating back to 1843, but that hasn't stopped us from evolving into a vibrant, diverse, global growth company.We currently have an opening for a dynamic individual to join our team as an Automation Controls Engineer at our Fort Mill, SC location.This manufacturing plant will accelerate Stanley Black & Decker's Industry 4.0 "smart factory" initiative. The 350,000-square foot facility will serve as a hub for the latest advancements in IoT, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, 3-D printing, robotics and advanced materials. The Automation/Controls Engineer will collaborate with the Center of Excellence (CoE) team located in Hartford, Ct along with the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team in Towson, Md to help set overall vision and strategy for the company's Industry 4.0 initiatives.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Define, Plan, Implement and Support the mobile robotic and logistical automation equipment put in place in CMO, including Process, Financial and Technical analysis
  • Program, integrate and troubleshoot Industrial/Collaborative/Autonomous Mobile robots from well-known Original Equipment Manufacturers such as Fanuc and MiR
  • Evaluate program and project requirements, develop complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions for a reliable production process and apply LEAN concepts
  • Compile and analyze technical data to determine the effects on product engineering design and rate estimates, identify robotics, automation or technology recommendations and system integration for equipment and tooling
  • Conduct training for authorized Production and Maintenance personnel
  • Vet new technologies on a technical level to understand if it is ready to deploy into the facility
  • Collaborate with CoE and AME teams for any CMO current or future automation needs
  • Communicate best practices and sharing any safety related concerns or issues at the plant level
  • Optimize complex robotics and automation equipment and processes for safety, ergonomics, quality, flow, reliability, and maintainability
  • Working alongside Assembly - Value Stream Engineers and Maintenance team to land automation without causing any delays to production requirements
EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATIONS
  • 4-year technical degree required
  • 2+ years of experience with Electrical theory, Robotics, Controls components, Automated equipment
  • Experience identifying, maintaining, troubleshooting, programming, and designingHMIand control network components
  • Experience with deploying industrial, collaborative, or mobile robotics projects in a manufacturing environment
  • Various PLC platforms and PC controllers
  • Experience with shop floor layouts, LEAN methodologies, and material replenishment
  • Knowledge of mechanical components commonly found on assembly automation machines
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • CAD software (Catia/AutoCAD/SolidWorks)
  • Robotic gripper specification and design
  • Understanding of Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing principles, certification preferred
  • Use of 3D printing
