Job Summary of the Hardware Test Engineer:

Our client is a market leader in developing next generation vehicle technologies for powertrain, hybrid, stability controls, and other related systems. They're looking for a Hardware Test Engineer who will be planning and managing activities for multiple test projects to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished within a prescribed time frame. In this role, you will be responsible to support the development of automotive embedded electronic control unit hardware. If you have good knowledge of performing hardware testing of prototypes and creating the subsequent test reports, then this position is well suited to you.

This is a contract positin (12-month minimum) with the potential to convert to direct-hire.

Responsibilities of the Hardware Test Engineer:

• Support the development of automotive embedded electronic control unit hardware
• Perform hardware testing of prototypes and creating the subsequent test reports
• Other duties may include supporting hardware-in-the-loop testing, and supporting the root cause analysis of modules returned by the customer during the development stage.

Qualifications for the Hardware Test Engineer:

• BSEE with 1+ years of experience in automotive ECU testing.
• Solid understanding of circuit and board-level ECU hardware, including EE formulas and calculations to understand measurements.
• Experience in the following areas:

  • Automotive component and vehicle test procedures, including hands on hardware testing experience.
  • Electronics equipment to test ECU’s (oscilloscopes, DMM, Power supplies, function generators, etc.)
  • Modifying PCB assemblies (e.g. strong soldering skills)
  • Creating test plans and test reports
  • Interfacing with customers
  • Coordinating program activities with team members at remote sites

• Experience with automotive/vehicle ECUs is a plus
• Design experience with Renesas micro controllers is preferred
• Have experience coordinating and facilitating several small projects and/or one major project.
