Position Title: Maintenance Manager

Position Type: Full Time

Position Season: Flexible; 9-12 months, depending on preference of the applicant.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a skilled mechanic with experience managing marine & auto fleets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Must have management experience (at a manager or assistant level)

- Must have experience with marine engines, outboards (Yahama-specific) preferred

- Adequate computer literacy – basic aptitude for Microsoft suite (specifically Word & Excel)

- Ability to create/manage inventory systems

- Must hold a valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record

- Must be able to lift to 50 lbs & be on your feet for 6-8 hours at a time, if needed

- Experience driving larger boats is a plus

DESCRIPTION OF WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

The Maintenance Manager oversees all maintenance planning for Gastineau Guiding’s 10 boat, 30+ vehicle fleet. As a seasonal business, maintenance needs are preventative-focused in the winter months (November – March) and responsive to our 7 day/week tour schedule during the summer season (April – October).

The Maintenance Manager oversees a team of 2-3 FT mechanics to manage scheduled maintenance and emergency response. The manager also works closely with the Operations Manager (vehicles) and Port Captain (boats) to maintain an ever-evolving maintenance schedule. The manager is also expected to be available to seasonal staff (primarily full time captains) to ensure good communication between on-the-ground staff & our maintenance team.

Typical responsibilities include the following:

- Manage all ordering and stocking of parts

- Coordinate & oversee bi-annual USCG Coast Guard T-Boat Inspections

- Manage annual FMSCA vehicle inspections

- Manage Daily Vessel Status Reports & Daily Vehicle Reports record keeping and response plans (summer season)

- Plan & execute schedule for 100 hour & 300 hour service schedule for all 10 vessels (each vessel has 3 Yamaha 250 outboards, summer season only)

- Building maintenance, as needed, for Gastineau’s 2 shops & main office

- Required to obtain a commercial driver’s license (training provided by GGC if needed)

- Required to obtain Yamaha service technician certificate (Training provided by GGC, if needed)

Winter months (November – March) have a predictable & flexible 30-40-hr per week, 9-5-type schedule. Summer season months (April – October) are more varied, with 40-50 hours per week on average.

Pay Range & Benefits: Monthly Salary is 7500-8500, DOE. Health care is available for all year round staff. Time off is paid and very flexible, but amount ultimately depends on the number of months this position works (9-12, depending on employee preference). Time off must be primarily scheduled outside peak season months.
