We are seeking an energetic, positive, and highly technical DevOps engineer who specializes in automation to assist the IT Department in the adoption of DevOps best practices. As an IT Senior DevOps Engineer, you'll report directly to the IT Systems Engineering Manager and act as an automation engineer for the team. You'll be an ambassador and technical resource supporting the IT Department's transition to CI/CD, automated Configuration Management and Infrastructure as Code. This position requires a balance of systems administration, application troubleshooting, customer focus, creativity and relentless enthusiasm. While being a change agent, you'll be an integral part of Washington Federal's proud culture of simply being nice when serving our colleagues and clients.Primary Responsibilities and Activities

  • Own and maintain core DevOps tools and platforms such as Jenkins, Azure Pipelines, SonarQube, Prometheus, and baseline Ansible playbooks
  • Support product teams as they modernize application hosting on containerized platforms
  • Be an ambassador in the Enterprise, evangelizing and supporting their adoption of DevOps principles and practices
  • Partner with development teams to understand and help implement their projects so they conform to current industry best practices for builds, deployments, testing and operations
  • Support and implement automation of manual processes for various IT groups as required
  • Provide technical guidance and support for cloud infrastructure automation as the Enterprise moves towards adoption
  • Collaborate with developers to implement best practices during all phases of the SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle)
  • Keep current on industry best practices and technology trends
  • Help develop DevOps KPIs and success metrics
  • Provide after-hours Production support as needed
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
  • Four years of experience as a DevOps engineer working in an Enterprise environment
  • Two years of experience with at least two scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell or Groovy
  • Experience with an industry-standard container platform such as Docker or LXC
  • Experience in at least one CI/CD platform such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps
  • Experience with an Enterprise Configuration Management solution such as Ansible, Chef, or OpenStack
  • Experience with an Enterprise observability tool suite such as ELK, Prometheus or Splunk
  • Good presentation and project management skills, excellent communication skills, and strong analytical skills
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related field
  • Two years of hands-on experience with AWS (Amazon Web Services)
  • Previous experience in a highly regulated industry such as health care or financial services
  • SOX (Sarbanes Oxley) and PCI (Payment Card Industry) experience highly desired
  • ITIL Foundations (or above) certification
  • Experience with Agile frameworks desired (Kanban, SCRUM, SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework))
