- Peraton is seeking a Red Hat Platform Administrator to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.
- The qualified candidate will work with technical engineers in leading, building, managing, and supporting the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) platform.
- The successful candidate is a self-starter who has a well-rounded hands-on experience, ability to analyze requirements, provide operational support, and should be able to provide identification/fixes for the problems identified within existing systems design/implementation of new systems, support operating system and application installation, configuration, upgrades and patching work activities include:
- Provide hands-on System Administrator support of the RHEL platform in the Dev, Test and Production environments
- Develop processes and procedures for new and current management of the RHEL server environments
- Identify opportunities to utilize automation for defining, building and automating repeatable processes using Ansible Playbooks and utilize Ansible Tower for deployments
- Lead efforts in working with stakeholders in establishing standards and defining processes for supporting applications
- Lead analysis, troubleshooting and resolution of infrastructure and application issues in conjunction with application owners and vendors
- Participate as the technical platform resource and led for application deployment and project implementations
- Provide off-hour support as needed for patching and system upgrades
- Minimum knowledge, skills, abilities needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years of work experience, Master’s Degree and 5 years of work experience, or 11 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
- 9 years of experience or more as a RHEL Linux System Engineer/Administrator Version 6.x, 7.x or later in a larger environment
- 7 years of experience or more monitoring and optimizing the performance of the Red Hat system
- 3 years of experience or more with Red Hat Satellite v6 or later
- 2 years of experience or more supporting IBM WebSphere or Introscope Middleware Applications
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
- Candidates with these skills will be given preferential consideration
- Experience with Linux kernel internals, patching, including performance tuning, troubleshooting, bug fix updates, and core builds
- Experience in developing and implementing Ansible Playbooks and using Ansible Tower platform
- Experience using Bash Scripting to automate daily OS level tasks, monitoring
- Experience with application build automation tools like Jenkins, and Git
- Experience with Performance tuning and monitoring (i.e. Nagios and Solarwinds)
- Knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift and RHEVM
- Knowledge of DevOps and continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) or modern application frameworks
- Knowledge of and operational experience with methodologies related to Agile and DevOps
- Knowledge of enterprise server security and patch management
- Knowledge of configuration and change management
- Familiarity with managing and maintaining Virtualization technologies
- Technical documentation skills
- Excellent communication skills, including strong writing skills
