As an important member of our La Colombe's Flagship Café in Fishtown, this position helps deliver the full La Colombe culinary experience by cooking simple delicious recipes in a casual cafe environment.

Job Requirements

-Knife skills

-Ability to work positively in a fast-paced environment.

-Excellent verbal communication skills.

-Ability to work effectively with a team.

-At least 1-2 years of line cook experience.

-Experience in bread baking a plus!

-Ability to be on your feet and alert for extended periods of time.

-Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed and frequently lift and move up to 10 lbs.

-Continuous bending, reaching and twisting.

-Continuous use of hands, fingers and arms.

-Required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Essential Functions.

-Read and follow recipes to prepare hot and cold foods to ensure food quality and consistency.

-Prepare all food items or specialty plates quickly and accurately with precision and efficiency.

-Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices.

-Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as smelling or temping with thermometers.

-Responsible for food cost control, waste control, spoilage, rotation and food requisition (FIFO).

-Regulate temperature of ovens, grills, and fryers.

-Adhere to timing standards for all products and services.

-Complete other general line cook tasks as assigned.

-Continually maintain a clean, safe and sanitary prep area, walk-in cooler and freezer.

-Properly clean and maintain equipment.
