You have demonstrated that you can lead, coach, teach, and develop talent in a past paced environment. You are looking for a high-visibility role where you can make an immediate and lasting impact on product and people. You're agile and adaptable but work with precision to ensure we deliver top-notch customer experiences, always.You also have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 12+ years' experience, advanced degree is preferred
  • At least 3 years' experience in leading an engineering team in professional environment.
  • A strong background in mechanical design; you are an expert in material selection and related manufacturing processes for components and can demonstrate your ability applying DFM / DFA design principles.
  • A demonstrated business acumen including accounting, finance, business planning and risk management.
  • A track record of successfully communicating with and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organization. A proven ability to navigate business channels to remove obstacles and achieve project goals.
  • Are skilled in managing Quality through use of statistical tools, process capability, DOE's, and tolerance stack-ups.
  • An ability and interest for some travel - this role Requires international travel to visit manufacturing locations and global supply base (post COVID), typically less than 15%
What You'll Do:As a key member of leadership team of Outdoor Products group Engineering team based in Towson, MD, You will,
  • Lead a team of 6 to 8 engineers & designers, developing designs and processes for next generation motor platforms.
  • Collaborate with leaders in product portfolio & global manufacturing to ensure alignment between related platform and product roadmaps, and the global manufacturing footprint & strategy
  • Guide troubleshooting and technical problem-solving on initiatives being integrated into new products
  • Partner with multiple groups/functions to understand, analyze and/or influence inputs (ex: external regulations, internal procedures, design decisions, interpretation of user feedback, etc.), then make strategic recommendations to business groups.
  • Establish and enforce design and process controls, conduct root-cause analysis, and apply statistical and Lean Six-Sigma techniques to maintain and improve product quality as problems arise thru the product development cycle.
  • Provide resource forecasting for long-term projects and hiring initiatives. Distill organizational priorities into team goals, holding self and team fully accountable for results and Behaviors.
  • Identify ongoing training requirements, and ensure entire department fulfills expectations.
  • Drive local talent development to include performance management, individual and team development, and high engagement across teams.
  • Hold self and others accountable for demonstration of Values & Behaviors. Teach by example, influencing at all levels of the organization to act with honesty, integrity, and the highest ethical standards.
  • Mentor and develop team to harness their creativity, challenge their current thinking, and propose new solutions that lead to successful outcomes.
  • Act as a thought leader who generates new ideas, both in terms of technical approaches as well as leadership behaviors.
