job summary:POSITION SUMMARY:The IT Systems Engineer Senior is a senior level position working under minimal supervision and is responsible for providing and supporting the technical infrastructure, platforms and systems that support business capabilities. As a highly trained and experienced technology specialist, ensures infrastructure availability, leads projects, troubleshoots issues and researches new methods and systems of assigned infrastructure. Participates as a project resource working with Project Management Offices and other areas within IT to define project tasks, estimate and coordinate work efforts between groups, resolve or escalate issues, provide status updates on assigned deliverables and test and implement solutions. Works on problems of diverse scope and moderate to high complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Day to Day Tasks:- Work assigned will include Incidents, Changes, Service Requests in Remedy Ticketing System to maintain Server availability 24 x 7- Will use KBAs and other tools to assist in problem resolution, submit feedback for improvements to KBAs when appropriate- Engage and escort key vendors (Cisco, Dell, etc.) to collaborate on technical issues.- Perform monthly Server patching which includes remediating any servers that failed during the automated patching cycle- Perform basic health checks of servers (CPU/memory usage/Disk Space), adding memory/CPUs/disk space - includes freeing up disk space- Answer phone calls from internal employees related to Server issues- Represent SIOPS - (Systems and Infrastructure Operations) on Incident Management Bridges for High and Critical outages

Soft Skills/ Non-technical:- Aptitude and willingness to learn and document technology/processes- Experience working in an environment with multiple support vendors- Effective written and verbal communications- Customer support experience in a support role- Familiarity with safe working best practices- Must be able to move and/or lift 50 lbs. with assistance

Technical Skills in Order of Importance:System Support SkillsIT Skills- Previous experience troubleshooting systems with vendors- Some infrastructure knowledge (ability to tell a difference between a switch/blade/rack mount server/etc)- Storage administration - ability to find errors/troubleshoot- Familiarity with Remedy a plus, but other incident management ticketing systems experience acceptable- Demonstrated ability to log in to multiple domains- Demonstrated ability to install key components in equipment (line cards, NICS, memory)- Demonstrated ability to perform basic scripting, familiarity w/PowerShell, run scripts, interpret/understand basic scripts- Demonstrated ability to perform basic command line skills, navigate Remote Desktop sessions- Demonstrated basic knowledge of networking, IP addressing, subnetting (examples include running basic IP related commands (ping, nslookup, etc.), assigning IP addresses to server NICS- Demonstrated troubleshooting abilities, diagnose and resolve problems with computer equipment (physical and virtual)Windows Server OS- Understanding with Windows server and clustering - how to navigate and perform basic functions.- Examples include failover a cluster, perform IIS reset on server, manage services on a server, expand a partition on a disk, Active Directory basic functions familiarity (User management: Password Reset, Unlock Account)VMWare- Understanding of basic virtualization principles- Familiar with how to navigate within vCenter (examples include vMotion servers between hosts, place a host in maintenance mode, perform a VM snapshot, view and interpret host event logs)- Familiar with how to alter basic VM settings (CPU, Memory, Hard drive size)UCS- Understanding of blade or hyper-converged technology concepts (examples include ability to navigate within Cisco UCS Manager, view and interpret faults within UCS manager, UCS Central)Linux (Preferred, not required)- Basic knowledge of commands. Examples include starting and stopping services, navigating directories/ filesystems, ability to perform SSH sessions. qualifications:
