Job Summary
The Electrical Technician is responsible for keeping all electrical power supplies and equipment operational and ensures proper installation of equipment in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, and ExxonMobil procedures and standards. The Electrical Technician may be required to provide relief to other Electrical Technicians in a different work area.
The Electrical Technician is responsible for coordinating and performing electrical and communications troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance as needed.
The Electrical Technician performs calibration, troubleshooting and repair of instrumentation and electronic equipment. Includes diagnosing faults and determining optimal procedure/equipment to remedy and repair accordingly.
The Electrical Technician responds to operational and emergency calls as part of on-call duties.
Primary Job Functions
Perform electrical maintenance and repair activities
Demonstrate the ability to review and interpret P&ID, electrical, and electronic control schematics, including the ability to redline drawings for review
Demonstrate ability to wire complex control circuits from schematic wiring diagrams
Demonstrate knowledge and troubleshooting of electrical systems up to and exceeding 15000 volts (High Voltage)
Demonstrate knowledge of electronic theory, communication systems and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) principles
Demonstrate knowledge and programming of PLC’s, flow computers, and HMI’s.
Demonstrate working knowledge of DOT, ISO, NEC, and OSHA regulations
Maintain inventory of all electrical operating equipment and spares
Understand how to install and calibrate various equipment such as temperature transmitters, pressure transmitters, flow meters, tank level gauges, and control valves.
Demonstrate knowledge of valves and motor operated actuators (MOV) actuators – installing, repairing, setting limits, maintaining.
Demonstrate knowledge of large electrical equipment such as motors, motor control centers, transformers
Demonstrate knowledge of variable frequency drives (VFDs) and ability to diagnose issues and repair/remedy as required
Perform maintenance with minimal down time to the operation
Perform to highest safety standards, including reporting all incidents and discrepancies
Demonstrate ability to write various maintenance procedures
Job Requirements
Ability to plan daily work activities in accordance with established Company and regulatory procedures
Ability to communicate (read, write, and speak) effectively
Ability to operate hand tools or other pipeline equipment to accomplish assigned tasks
Able to use Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to maintain a consistent safe work ethic
Knowledge of emergency response procedures and DOT motor carrier regulations
Must be willing and able to attend/complete required training courses
Must be willing and able to work in small team environments and unsupervised, depending on type of work and timing
Must be willing and able to work in various locations, both indoors and outdoors, in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures
Must have safe driving skills
Must possess a valid driver's license
Must be willing to respond to callouts as required by the position
