Job Summary

Mechanical Technicians maintain and repair a variety of pumps, compressors, motors, engines, turbines, generators, and other rotating and fixed equipment of all sizes, generally in field locations along the pipeline

Mechanical Technicians must be willing to work in the proximity of various hydrocarbon products, electrical circuits, and machinery in various outside weather conditions. The Mechanical Technician may be required to provide relief to other Mechanical Technicians in a different work area and willing to travel and work away from home occasionally.

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for coordinating and performing mechanical maintenance and repairs of pipeline equipment as needed.

Outside of normal work hours, the Mechanical Technician will have on-call responsibilities and be required to respond to operational and emergency events.

Primary Job Functions

Maintain an incident free workplace by use of various Company safety programs

Read and understand station drawings (electrical and mechanical) to isolate equipment for repairs

Conduct mechanical maintenance and repair activities

Responsible for accurate documentation of regulatory maintenance requirements

Responsible to safely isolate and repair various equipment (i.e. pumps, motors, valves) in accordance with defined lock out procedures

Utilize computer software to write repair/work procedures

Perform facility maintenance including painting, grounds upkeep, cleaning common work areas

Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions

Demonstrate knowledge of transmitter calibrations, low voltage wiring, and safety relief systems

Demonstrate knowledge of valves and motor operated actuators (MOV) actuators – installing, repairing, setting limits, maintaining.

Perform maintenance with minimal down time to the operation

Perform to highest safety standards, including reporting all incidents and discrepancies

Job Requirements

Ability to plan daily work activities in accordance with established Company and Regulatory procedures

Ability to communicate (read, write, and speak) effectively

Ability to operate hand tools or other pipeline equipment to accomplish assigned tasks

Able to use Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Demonstrated ability to maintain a consistent safe work ethic

Knowledge of emergency response procedures and DOT motor carrier regulations

Must be willing and able to attend/complete required training courses

Must be willing and able to work in small team environments

Must be willing and able to work in various locations, both indoors and outdoors, in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures

Must have safe driving skills and possess a valid driver’s license

Must be willing to respond to callouts as required by the position, and execute emergency response procedures
