Click on "Learn more about this agency" button below to view Eligibilities being considered and other IMPORTANT information.ResponsibilitiesThe primary purpose of this position is too repair, overhaul, rebuild, modify, test, troubleshoot, remove, replace, align, calibrate, rebuilds, inspect and mate avionics integrated electronic and environmental systems.Performs pretest, operational (functional), or final testing of electronic environmental systems, components, or subassemblies.Utilizes safety practices and procedures, complies with security regulations, directives, and policies, and maintains a safe and clean work area.Uses and maintains tools and test equipment required to accomplish duties and certifies work produced under the USAF Technical Order Program.Prepares effective training plans to maximize Reserve training.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentQualificationsApplicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2600 Electronic Equipment Installation And Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic WG-2610-12, without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of electronic theories and practices of one or more complex integrated systems such as fire control, inertial navigation, or automatic landing control systems; of integrated electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, optical, and mechanical systems; of such applications as radar, digital or analog computers, digital display devices, and of the technology and practices which integrate these components into a total functional system; and of mathematics including algebra and basic trigonometric functions to adapt standard function to the specific requirements of the integrated systems and knowledge of USAF Technical Order Program and its procedures. 2. Skill in the set up and operation of computer controlled automated test equipment (ATE) and test stands, oscilloscopes (dual trace, storage, digitized), spectrum, network and distortion analyzers, frequency counters, and signal generators; in interpreting complex drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete integrated systems to recognize the function and interconnections of components, assemblies, subassemblies, and connecting cable harness; and in troubleshooting, installing, repairing, and maintaining electronic integrated systems where circuit theory must be used to understand the operation of a large number of circuits and functions, and the interaction of subsystems which create malfunctions and the use of standard hand and power tools of the electronics trade. 3. Comprehensive knowledge of testing and troubleshooting techniques and procedures utilizing a variety of test devices and ability to analyze modify, and repair complex electrical or environmental systems and components on assigned aircraft. Also knowledge/skills in calibrating and adjusting components such as amplifiers, proximity boxes, generators, and voltage regulators. (Applies to 5th Generation Aircraft Only) 4. Ability to read and interpret a variety of technical data such as schematic diagrams, blueprints and technical orders relating to the electronics trade and the ability to use a variety of electronic, electrical, or electromechanical test and measurement equipment and use basic computer skills are required. Individual must be able to access and use computer based maintenance documentation and supply systems, and be capable of assimilating training on new systems as they are developed and implemented 5. Comprehensive knowledge of operation, capabilities and limitations of complex electronic systems complicated by a variety of multi component assemblies and devices. 6. Ability to interpret and comply with regulations and instructions on security, safety, documentation, effectively communicate with workers and supervisors in English using both oral and written reports and other publications governing the performance of duties and to clean work area and/or job site upon completion of work. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical effort involves lifting components and equipment and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Items lifted generally weigh up to 40 pounds and occasionally objects weighing in excess of 40 pounds. Requires a high degree of manual dexterity, eye to hand coordination, prolonged standing, walking, and normal color vision ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:Work is performed inside in a shop environment and outside on the aircraft, subject to inclement weather.Mechanics are subject to injuries such as cuts and bruises and may be subject to danger from exposure to hazardous materials, high pressure air, high noise level, electrical shock, RF radiation, and burns from soldering irons. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
