Backend Java Engineer

A worldwide financial institution is starting a major digital transformation and technology modernization effort. To execute this, they are beginning to scale out a brand new team with multiple hires. The ideal candidate has strong experience in Java and Spring, or other commonly used language and web framework. Experience with other modern technologies including microservices, cross-platform mobile applications, real-time data streams, message queuing technology, and/or cloud will certainly help to put you at the front of the pack. As this will be heavily focused in new product development, specific tools and technologies are less important than bringing a solid engineering foundation and previous industry experience in consumer banking, transaction processing, or the like. This position is a 100% remote, full time, W2 position. No sponsorships are available at this time. Required Skills & Experience

• 4+ years of experience in software development
• Strong Core Java experience
• Demonstrated experience with at least one common web framework - i.e. Spring (MVC, Boot, Security, etc.)
• Experience building out large scale, robust, and secure web services utilizing REST
• Knowledge of commonly used design patterns and architectures
• Relational databases (SQL)
• Previous work on complex systems with a backend focus required
• Source control with TFS, Git, or similar tool
• Strong team player
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Creative thinking and problem solving ability

• QA/DevOps experience
• Additional experience with a second language i.e. C#, Ruby, Python, C, Golang, Shell, Rust, Kotlin, Scala, Clojure, or other commonly used languageWorking knowledge and/or experience in the latest frameworks and tools for web development
• Cloud experience in Azure, Google Cloud Platform, PCF, and/or AWS
• Previous work on a high-transaction and data-intensive stack and work with tools like Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Camel, or similar
• NoSQL databases like Hadoop, Cassandra, MongoDB, etc.
• Microservice design and development
• Experience in the financial industry, specifically in consumer banking, transaction processing, etc. is preferred
• Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or similar field
