American Airlines is seeking candidates for a MCU Material Controller The MCU Department is a centralized communications point for field maintenance, Supply, Technical Services, and Base Supply to coordinate material requirements for out of service aircraft, aircraft flying on continued restrictive MEL’s, base critical, MRO support and aircraft engines in repair where workflow is impeded due to lack of material (Parts).

Comprehensive Benefit Package provided and airline privileges at an hourly rate of $18.73 USD.

The terms and conditions of this position are covered by the International Association of Mechanics (IAM) Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Management will modify the job or require other tasks be performed whenever it is deemed appropriate to do so, observing, of course, any legal obligations including any collective bargaining obligations.

Fluid communication of material delivery status and routing plan to Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Maintenance Operation Control

Provide AOG Tooling logistics

Research alternative part number options utilizing manuals such as: IPC / Boeing 787 IPD / Vendor CMM’s;

Submit Engineering Assistance Requests for approval as needed

Base Maintenance, Heavy Maintenance, MRO and internal Shop support to prevent extended aircraft downtime during their off hours and to prevent potential AOG situations when they have exhausted all other resources

Perform all duties as required for the MCU Job Function

Ensure part availability for scheduled maintenance and overnight Bill of Work assignments allowing maintenance tasks to be performed as planned

All you'll need for success Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

MCU is a 24/7 operation: Must be willing to work rotating shifts with either days or nights coverage

Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, etc.)

High School Diploma and one of the following:

Certificate of completion of accredited aircraft maintenance school, possess a two (2)year college degree in an aircraft maintenance field, one (1) year experience in material management or two (2) year experience in aircraft maintenance and/or flight operations/logistics field

Excellent analytical and problem resolution skills

Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally

Ability to work independently with a high degree of motivation

Ability to function effectively and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, effectively realign priorities in a fast-paced, time-sensitive dynamic work environment

Must be able to make time-critical decisions

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

Undergraduate degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Management or equivalent experience/training

Experience as a Material Logistics Specialist, Stock Clerk, Material Planner, Airline AOG Department, Vendor Management or Supplier Management Knowledge of American Airlines Technical Operations, Maintenance Programs, and procedures along with American Airlines route network are highly desirable

HAZMAT Training / Certification

Sabre RES/DECS, SAP, SCEPTRE, Web-based programs such as MAPS, ASOM and VIANET
