What you’ll be doing This position will work within the Global Network Management - Applications Management organization supporting RCS Chat. The duties consist of requesting, configuring and implementing infrastructure resources, application tenants within VCP Core, transport resources and any other services or resources needed for the support of the application. Candidate will work with vendors and other internal teams as needed to meet the growth, performance and service objectives of the application.

Attend and participate in project meetings and discussions, design reviews and other application/platform level meetings.

Participate in the testing and validation of new software releases and features

Monitor and provide regular reports on system capacities (C&D) and key performance indicators (KPI) in order to ensure just-in-time build ahead of the growth curve.

Proactively monitor key application service KPI’s and alerts, analyze trends, anomalies and collaborate with engineering and operations teams to address potential availability and performance issues

Complete security scans, risk assessment, remediation of vulnerabilities and maintain required security records and documentation for the platform as needed to maintain the security posture of the application.

Develop and provide platform documentation and reports as required to support the application team and management/leadership objectives.

Develop and deploy monitoring tools to manage the application and associated services utilizing automated tools wherever possible to save time and money.

Develop, provide and execute method of procedures (MOP) as needed to accomplish various platform implementation objectives.

Manage SSL Certificates and issue/install certificates as required to continue platform services without interruption.

Troubleshoot application, server and networking issues as required to advance platform availability and objectives.

Effectively manage vendors and work with them to advance platform objectives and ensure their products and services meet Verizon Wireless’ requirements and standards. Hold vendors accountable if their products and/or services fail to meet Verizon Wireless expectations and standards.

What we’re looking for You'll need to have:

Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

A degree

Experience working with messaging and chat call flows and applications.

Three or more years of relevant experience with large scale application deployments.

Experience leading major cloud-based IaaS and software project installations, testing and acceptance.

Networking certification or demonstrated networking experience including troubleshooting firewalls, load balancers, switches and packet capture and analysis capability.

Experience with Linux OS (RedHat preferred), OpenStack, Cassandra DB, Ansible, Python, JSON, block storage, object storage, backup schema.

Experience with Irisview, NetScout, SevOne, Elastic search and other system monitoring and reporting tools.

Vendor management experience.

Ability to articulate complex technical information in a non-technical manner.

Proven track record of leadership of project accomplishments including successful project launches.
