- Marcum Search has a client in Boston looking for a full time Data Engineer with strong big data/cloud experience Python and SQL databases are required.This is a direct hire position with full benefits. Hybrid remote/in the Boston office is preferred. Local candidates only.The motivated data engineer will join the business solutions team and will have responsibility for technical design, implementation, support and maintenance of the firm's strategic data warehouse, databases (SQL and other). This position will also play a key role in selection, design, and implementation of data ingestions, integration and transformation technologies.The candidate will have the opportunity to utilize a wide range of internal and external data sources to drive insights and growth at Audax across funds and across the firm. The candidate will have access to the top middle market investment professionals and help to devise a scalable data infrastructure and strategy to meet the needs of our investment strategy and growth plans.REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with SQL, cloud database technologies required
- Experience with python required
- Experience with Alteryx and it’s advanced capabilities is highly preferred. Similar tools will be considered.
- 3-5 years professional experience in a data engineering role
- Deep knowledge of data transformation and integration
- Deep knowledge of database storage technologies
- Experience taking large data sets, and cleaning/distilling these data sets
- BS/BA and/or MS in Data engineering, Computer science or related field
- Ability to think critically and recognize opportunities for optimization
- Curiosity to learn and explore new solutions and technologies in the data space
- Experience with capturing and storing data streams required, experience with demographic and financial data streams, a major plus
- Strong written and oral communication skills required
- Ability to interact in an efficient and meaningful way with all levels of the organization required
- Designing, implementing, maintaining and scaling the data ecosystem
- Working with business solutions, deal professionals, portfolio support, and firm leadership to address the firm’s business priorities in an innovative and scalable way
- Lead the way in the evaluation and implementation of cloud data technologies at the firm level
- Help design, implement, and grow the data infrastructure and capabilitiesReview data work done internally and externally and provide meaningful feedback and insights
- Implement best practices in data transformation and storage across funds and strategies
- Assist portfolio support data engineers in initiatives at the portfolio company where needed.
- Support deal sourcing/marketing in data initiatives for new deals
- Tackling new data sources and devising the best way to distill and store data
- Solving problems and troubleshooting data issues as they arise
- Knowledge of/Experience designing, building, and maintaining a scalable data architecture.
- Excellent understanding and proven experience in the areas of data transformation and storage.
- Experience designing and implementing optimal data schema
- Understanding of different data use cases and the most effective way to address them
- Experience working with cloud-based data storage technologies (Snowflake, Redshift, etc.)
- Knowledge of/Experience with implementing best practices in data governance
- Experience working with streaming data feeds; financials services and demographic data feeds, a major plus
- Experience with data visualization tools (PowerB, Tableau), a plus
