Microbiology Technician – NW of Austin, TXKelly Scientific Resources is looking for a Microbiology Technician for one of our top food manufacturing clients in the geographical area northwest of Austin Texas. The overall responsibility of the position is to conduct microbiological analyses to verify sanitary operating conditions to assure the safety and quality of the manufacturing environment and finished product. The Microbiology Technician also provides technical assistance on all matters related to the bacteriological analysis of products and materials, microbiological investigations, and interpretation of analytical results.Essential Functions:t

Performs microbiological tests and provides the technological knowledge and skills necessary for the implementation and maintenance of bacteriological testing and quality assurance programs.t

Participates on the positive swab investigative team and maintains all records required for investigations.t

Responsible for the proper maintenance and operation of all bacteriological equipment following Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) and maintaining the laboratory in a sanitary state at all times.t

Prepares and maintains necessary records and reports and keeps leadership advised on all technical matters pertaining to microbiological procedures, bacteriological analyses, etc.t

Responsible for updating and maintaining the laboratory manual with all current policies and procedures, including the environmental site program.t

Maintains familiarity with all related Corporate FSQA policies and procedures.

Education and Experience:t

BS degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or its equivalent is required. t

1-2 years of experience in Food Safety and Quality Assurance in a food manufacturing environment and/or food plant production is strongly desired.t

Plating experience is strongly desired.t

Certifications such as HACCP, SQF, ASQ, and other professional quality associations are helpful.
