Aerospace/Mechanical Engineer (San Antonio)
Texas, San antonio 00000 San antonio USA

Vacancy expired!

I am seeking a talented mechanical and/or aerospace engineer, or someone with equivalent knowledge and experience, interested in working together on an independent project a couple of times each week during the evenings and weekends. This project will be focused in the fields of air and space transportation, propulsion, and UAVs. While this will just be a side project in the beginning, all the members of the group will be given an equal percentage of ownership in any company that emerges, or proceeds generated, from the project. I believe that, given the qualifications and competencies required for this project, no more than three individuals (including myself) will be necessary to undertake this project.

My personal skill set is strongest in the field of software and programming, and while I also have a fair amount of experience with robotics and hardware design and construction, I am eager to meet some individuals who are interested in the subjects this project will be focused on, can bring to it experience in the aforementioned fields, who aren't afraid to take on all kinds of roles as the project requires, and who possess most, if not all, of the qualifications described below.

Desired Qualifications:

- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent work experience

- Currently employed in a related field

- Additional experience or interest in one or more of the following areas or skills: robotics, propulsion methods, physics, hydraulics, programming and software design, CNC cutting/milling, electrochemistry, materials science

- Access to a CNC machine or experience with CAD/G-CODE

- A general interest and excitement in science and technology and enjoyment of technical and engineering projects

- Desire to experiment and create, history of undertaking and completing independent projects in your spare time, and of your own initiative

- Capable of working well in both independent and group environments

- 10-20 hours a week on evenings and weekends to devote to the project

- Ability to meet locally in San Antonio in person at least once every week or two.

- Willingness to contribute an equal amount of capital as the other partners to procure materials for the project as they become necessary.

- Capable of leading a specific aspect of the project if you are the most capable, but also willing to let others lead if they are more capable

- Desire to constantly increase and advance your knowledge and understanding, test your own hypotheses, and objectively analyze the results of those tests or experiments

- Constructive attitude, is not overly critical, does not mock the thoughts or ideas of others

- Able to see possibilities and opportunities where others do not or can not

- Able to imagine and implement creative solutions to difficult or novel technical and engineering problems

- Open to terminating current employment in order to start a company if adequate funding/capital is raised

Even if you do not meet all the above criteria, it is more important that we are able to complement each other's abilities and work well together. I've worked with all kinds of groups in my life, and I learned by experience that a group of capable, motivated individuals that all enjoy working together towards a common goal and who all respect each other can accomplish anything they desire. If you believe you are this type of individual, and are interested in collaborating on this project, please send an email introducing yourself, along with any resumes or materials you think might be relevant. More information about myself and the project will be sent to selected individuals after reviewing submissions.
