Principal Cloud Engineer (one or two openings) to support a federal customer in the DC Metro area. This candidate will provide the following:- Enterprise architecture design, engineering, operations and implementation design for Azure cloud based solutions and applications.
- Senior level engineering design and architecture support to provide enterprise-level solutions using physical and virtual networking technologies, server hosting, and storage solutions for legacy, hybrid, and cloud based applications.
- Planning; research; evaluation and recommendations for new equipment and related technologies.
- Evaluation, design, documentation, installation, implementation, testing, for innovative cloud and on-prem solutions
- Uses monitoring, performance analysis, network analytics, and experiential skills to troubleshoot and isolate difficult problems.
- Performs estimates of performance and reliability of proposed cloud native and cloud hybrid solutions.
- Systems Engineering background with an expert knowledge of the Cloud Computing Reference Architecture.
- Azure Cloud Services (breadth and depth on key services to guide and contribute to on-prem to cloud migration, and cloud O&M)
- Data Center cloud architecture, designs and patterns for large scale Data Centers.
- IP Networking VPN's, switching, and routing
- Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) concepts and principles.
- Zero-trust principles
- Azure Containerization and Microservices
- Azure Kubernetes Service and Clusters
- Microsoft File Systems, Operating Systems and Applications.
- Certifications or equivalent professional accreditation
- One or more architect level certification in a complementary technical area (Server, Storage, Networking, etc.)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
- Higher Education
- Bachelors degree and fourteen (14) years of experience;
- Masters degree and twelve (12) years of experience
- PhD degree and nine (9) years of experience.
- Required Skills: Knowledge of Data Center Architecture's and designs for large scale Data Centers.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, 1 or more architect level certifications in another technical area (Server, Storage, Network, etc.)
- Knowledge and experience with Large Scale Storage Area Network Systems (Design, Build, Operate).
- Knowledge and experience with VMware (Design, Build, Operate).
- Knowledge of IP Networking VPN's, switching, and routing- Knowledge of Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) concepts and principles.
- Knowledge of Microsoft File Systems, Operating Systems and Applications.
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft OS and Wintel systems- Systems Engineering background with understanding of Cloud Computing Reference Architecture.
- VMware: VCP 5+ Certified, working knowledge of SRM, VCOPS, SMVI, VCAC- Networking:
- Design knowledge and experience with Cisco Network components (switches, routers),
- Certifications (i.e. CCNA-DC, CCNP, CISSP)
- ITIL v3.0 Foundations certificate.
