Storage Administrator

Type of Requisition: RegularClearance Level Must Be Able to Obtain: NoneJob Family: Systems EngineeringGDIT is seeking a Solutions Expert to support our Financial Agencies Team. Candidate must be eligible to meet the customer clearance requirements.The role requires at least 15 years of systems experience with enterprise storage services. The position duties include:Provide full life cycle storage area network (SAN) administration, architecture, and support including storage utilizations/capacity planning and adjusting storage requirements.

Design modifications and changes to the SAN infrastructure and assist in the implementation and documentation of all configuration changes.

Provide Tier 1 through Tier 3 problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution.

Contribute to engineering team initiatives and work closely with other teams to address issues and ensure efficient resolution of problems.

Work with product vendors to resolve hardware issues and improve the use and configuration of vendor products and technologies (such as replication and management software, RAID Configurations, and multi-pathing)

Research and evaluate new technologies and architecting solutions in storage and backup and make recommendations to management and/or clients.

Use storage management tools to discover, monitor, provision, and report on the storage infrastructure.

Maintain the integrity and security of storage systems by following established security protocols and practices; analyze systems and keep systems current with changing technologies.

Develop, administer, manage, and perform disaster recovery procedures and processes for managed SANs and virtual environments.

Create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Workflows, and Topology Diagrams

Provide weekly and monthly reports

WHAT YOU’LL NEED :Strong technical expertise and work experience with the following IT equipment, technical areas and solutions are required for the position:

Designing and deploying enterprise storage solutions based on customer requirements.

Enterprise Storage Area Networks (SAN) – eg. EMC, HP, etc.

Monitoring, maintaining, and rightsizing storage volumes, storage space utilization and reclamations, and disk RAIDs

Brocade

Experience with monitoring, maintaining, patching, and vulnerability remediation for storage equipment

Ability to create and delivery white papers or technical Point of View (POV) presentations providing technological solutions to meet customer requirements or to resolve existing system issues

Strong communication skills, strong documentation skills, and the proven ability to work in a consultative role to include requirements gathering, solution design, documentation, and training.

Working knowledge of basic network protocols and practices

Scripting skills

Working experience with Microsoft Windows, Linux, and Virtual environments

Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Ability to interface and communication effectively with customer.

Able to work in a team environment.

Leadership skills to guide and mentor the work of less experienced personnel

Strong communication skills.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Visio

DESIRED SKILLS :Strong knowledge of Nutanix

Working knowledge of NetApp management tool

Working experience with cloud based solutions such as Amazon Work Space (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and/or Google.

Ability to automate rote technical tasks.
