Digital Communications Specialist

Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island The Digital Communications Specialist is a member of the Marketing and Enrollment ServicesTeam and leads the successful implementation, maintenance, and development of marketingand communications for specific user journeys via the marketing automation platform,Salesforce Marketing Cloud. Audiences include students, their families, instructors, partnerorganizations, seasonal staff, and alumni. The Digital Communications Specialist collaborateswith colleagues on original content creation, as needed.The Marketing and Enrollment Services Team is responsible for the execution of forward-facingmarketing and communications throughout the recruitment cycle. This work includes marketingto prospective students and regular communications about application, enrollment,on-boarding, transactional messaging, orientation, and student life and alumni engagement.The Specialist is responsible for working with colleagues in Marketing, Admissions/Enrollment,Student Life, Finance & Operations and others to build digital communications throughout thedivisional program cycle, ensuring accurate and consistent data and content, with an effort tocontinually improve the students’ experiences and further strengthen the University’s positionin the market.Primary responsibilities include:
  • Build, test, deploy and monitor the Division’s digital communications, including SMS,
some support with social media, and especially focused on marketing and transactionalemails (60%)
  • Assess outcomes of digital communication and report findings (20%)
  • Support the implementation of new digital tools, marketing channels, and resources and
help develop processes to improve data and content workflows (20%) Please note that this position is classified as Hybrid Eligible.

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years of experience in digital marketing
communications or related field, or equivalent combination of education andexperience.
  • Experience building and maintaining large-scale and nuanced digital communications.
  • Experience in executing mass email marketing campaigns.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google G Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive,
etc.)
  • Proficiency in HTML and CSS preferred.
  • Proficiency with basic image manipulation and graphic design experience with Adobe
Photoshop/Creative Suite preferred.
  • Proficiency in querying and filtering population lists within relational databases,
intermediate-advanced. SQL experience preferred.
  • Experience in generating reports for the purpose of analyzing data for success metrics
preferred.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently: eager and effective
collaborator.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both oral and written).
  • Knowledge of and working experience Salesforce Marketing Cloud preferred including
Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Content Builder, Mobile Studio, etc. preferred
  • Knowledge of email marketing platforms and enterprise-level solutions (Salesforce
Marketing Cloud preferred), SMS, social media preferred.
  • Experience using email marketing and social media publishing and analytics platform(s)
preferred.
  • Experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database platform(s)
preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with people with differing levels of technical knowledge.
  • Ability to multitask and to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective at problem-solving and project planning.
  • Attention to detail, judgment, and discretion.
  • Demonstrates a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
