Cook (Buda, TX)

Austin Recovery provides compassionate and effective drug and alcohol treatment since 1967. We are seeking for a dedicated Cook for our organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

—¾Maintain inventory of food and non-food items as required to prepare meals in accordance with dietitian approved menus.

—¾Prepares food order for approval by Food Services Manager.

—¾Maintains cleanliness of dining areas, kitchens, food storage areas, and food preparation equipment in accordance with standards established by Health Department and other inspecting agencies.

—¾Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

—¾Ability to work flexible hours (primarily 10:30-7pm)

—¾Ability to independently prepare meals; requires lifting and minimum of 30 lbs., knowledge and skill of food preparation, knowledge of Health Department requirements.

—¾Responsible for cooking breakfast when needed.

—¾Must have good health habits (washing hands often, etc.)

—¾Good eye hand coordination when handling sharp knives and other kitchen tools.

—¾Ability to follow recipes and instructions

—¾Must be certified by the Texas Department of Health (ServeSafe) or become certified within 30 days of hire.

Education and Experience:

—¾High School Diploma or G.E.D.

—¾Cooking experience required

—¾Previous experience in institutional cooking preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

—¾This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Supervised by:

—¾Food Services Manager

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

—¾Able to stand for extended periods of time.

—¾Standard commercial kitchen working conditions.

—¾Considerable exposure to heat, cold, humidity, stagnant air and slippery floors.

—¾Hearing and vision within normal range

—¾Uses hands and fingers, handle and feel and reach with hands and arms.

—¾Must be able up to lift 30 pounds.
