Job Summary

Carterra is looking for a high energy Mechanical Engineer to join our new product development team to design products in the life sciences industry.

Here are Carterra, you will develop complex instrumentation used for measuring biomolecular interactions. This includes automated fluid / sample handling mechanisms, sample preparation and sample delivery mechanisms that consist of fluidic controls, motion controls, opt-mechanics and thermal control systems.This role will be on sight and very hands on.

Requirements:

  • BS or MS in Engineering with minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience designing instrumentation in the life science industry.
  • Experience designing Mechanical systems that end up in life science or medical instrumentation.
  • Experience defining and developing test strategies for V&V.
  • Proficient in Solidworks 2020 or later
  • Experience designing systems for manufacturability.
  • Willing to wear many hats as needed in a small company
  • Ability to work well and communicate with other interdisciplinary engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Work through the development process of concept / design / test / iterate with keeping a close eye on the requirements.
  • Keep detailed notes and documentation to support findings and decisions with data.
  • Communicate engineering findings during meetings as needed.
  • Assist in new product development activities including CAD designs, hands on testing documentation, and transfer to manufacturing
  • During busy times of manufacture transfer, travel may be required up to 25% of the time.
  • Create a positive working environment around you.
  • Responsible for meeting deadlines and reaching beyond the “job description” at times to get things done.
  • Responsible with following through on designs by testing and working with test groups to ensure product requirements are met.
  • Work with manufacturing departments to ensure all needs are met for transfer to manufacturing activities.

  • Bachelor's (Required)

Experience:

  • instrumentation design: 5 years (Preferred)
