We are seeking a full time Senior Aviation Systems

Engineer with a focus on Cyber Security for our world headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this position you will evaluate, secure and maintain a high cyber security posture for our avionics systems and products.

Essential Functions
  • Work with internal engineering teams and OEM partners to plan, design and develop security architectures to meet certification and business requirements
  • Perform security assessments of proposed and existing avionics systems using applicable industry guidance and methods
  • Generate and maintain security standards, processes, and requirements across the aviation segment for embedded products and digital services
  • Develop threat models based on data flows to identify threat scenarios and determine risk acceptability
  • Actively monitor and evaluate the global cyber security landscape, ensuring Garmin's products and services are protected
  • Support incident response efforts, including investigation, remediation, and communication
  • Coordinate security initiatives with Enterprise IT and other business segments to establish a robust security posture
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math or Physics from a four-year college or university AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of aviation system design, aviation system safety, or cyber security architectures
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct security risk assessments, including threat modeling and risk acceptability compliance matrices
  • Demonstrated exceptional personal and team oriented organizational and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and superior analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality
Desired Qualifications
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5 as a general rule)
  • Experience and/or knowledge of integrated avionics systems
  • Experience and/or knowledge of security testing and/or vulnerability testing
  • Experience and/or knowledge of software code development, validation, and verification, particularly based on RTCA DO-326A / 356A, and/or EUROCAE ED-202A.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of the SAE ARP 4761 safety process
  • Experience and/or knowledge of the SAE ARP 4754 system development process
