1. Who we are:

We are a medium-sized, cloud-based consultancy headquartered in Las Vegas, NV, with consultants located across the US and worldwide, from Asia to South America. Our primary focus is academic consulting for doctoral-level clients, and we are currently hiring Qualitative Analysts. Note that potential applicants with strengths in quantitative methods rather than or in addition to qualitative methods are also encouraged to apply.

This position is a strictly remote position, and any applicant should view this as a strong incentive. Ideal applicants will have a strong background and interest in academic research and writing and pride themselves on being fast, efficient, and detail-oriented in their work. Many of our long-term analysts also work as adjunct professors and freelance writers or editors, and appreciate the flexibility the analyst position offers for family, travel, or creative endeavors. Hours for these positions are flexible, from part-time (10 hours per week) up to full-time (50-60 hours per week), depending on schedule and preferences.

All applicants will be required to complete a trial project, evaluating for required skills to successfully fill the analyst role. All applicants to the same position will receive the same trial project. Please note: successful applicants will be paid for the trial project, but unsuccessful applicants will NOT be paid. MS Word is required for the trial project and for all final deliverables.

2. Job responsibilities:

Job responsibilities for the Qualitative Analyst position:

Your main responsibility will be to support our clients in their dissertation research. This may include:

Content changes - Making targeted changes to client drafts based on the comments of the client's dissertation committee.

Topic selection and research plan development - Identifying current research gaps in academic literature, creating a valid problem statement, justifying the purpose for the study, selecting an underlying theoretical or conceptual framework to guide the study, writing aligned research questions, and drafting brief rationale statements to support the selected research method and design.

Expansion - Taking a clients preliminary draft and expanding it into complete chapters.

Methodological development - Choosing the optimal qualitative methodology to use for a particular study, such as phenomenology, grounded theory, or case study.

Literature review - Finding and reviewing relevant recent academic literature, creating an outline and annotated bibliography for a literature review, and drafting the review based on the articles and outline.

Multi-phase projects - Completing later-stage projects that involve elements of all of the above, and/or involve assisting our clients in correcting errors made across the above areas of their dissertations.

There will be substantial on-the-job learning as you're slowly introduced to (and trained on) each of the above project types, one by one. It is essential for all applicants to the Qualitative Analyst position to be comfortable with researching and critically engaging with academic literature via online databases such as Google Scholar or ERIC. In addition, although a statistical background is not required, you should be comfortable with discussing and interpreting the results of quantitative research.

NOTE: Applicants with the above research writing skills who are stronger with quantitative rather than qualitative methodologies are encouraged to apply under this listing as well. This position may be modified to emphasize quantitative client projects for such analysts.

3. Requirements:

For all positions, applicants must possess a positive attitude, a hustle work ethic, a meticulous nature, and an extremely high attention to detail, as well as excellent command of the English language.

For the Qualitative Analyst position, at minimum, a bachelor's degree, preferably from a good American university, is required. However, most of our analysts have graduate degrees and some graduate-level education is strongly preferred.

4. Compensation:

Qualitative Analyst fees vary by project type and complexity. Typically, pay ranges from $200-$600 per project depending on length, difficulty, and timeline. Most of our analysts make between $1000-$2000 monthly on limited, flexible hours. However, several full-time analysts make substantially more, depending on how quickly and efficiently they complete projects, as well as their experience and seniority at the firm.
