Applications/Product Engineer - Kentucky REPORTS TO: Director Advanced Manufacturing & Technical Engineering

PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Support Day to day production, ensure safety, quality and production goals are met, and Application/Product Engineering to support future growth plans

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support sales department from a technical role.
  • Understand future product performance and application needs to develop new products to support future requirements.
  • Track and maintain adherence to required standards and testing requirements (ASTM, UL, etc.).
  • Develop testing plans to approve new products and applications.
  • Understand current manufacturing capabilities, extrusion, and future needs.
  • Responsible for leading new product development and product improvement projects.
  • Responsible for project management, testing, budget preparation and manufacturing trials.
  • Develop and update all technical literature utilized by sales and customers.
  • Support sales with customer quality complaints. Lead quality investigations by working closely with manufacturing team, document root cause and corrective actions, and audit processes.
  • Find ways to reduce costs and maximize quality by promoting continuous improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing management, other engineers, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Adhere to company's rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • APPLICATIONS/PRODUCT ENGINEER REQUIRMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Working knowledge of material properties, material science related to plastic extrusion (HDPE preferred
  • Working knowledge of various construction methods utilizing HDPE conduit for power and telecom projects.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proactive problem solving.
  • Excellent data interpretation skills.
  • Travel up to 25% (project dependent).
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Previous working experience as an Applications/Product Engineer for (5) year(s) or equivalent work experience.
  • BS degree in Engineering or Technology or similar relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • SKILLS DESIRED: • Microsoft proficiency (including Word, Excel and Outlook) • OSHA Safety Standards • Interpreting raw data for cause-and-effect analysis • Ability to read and interpret (Blueprints & Machine) drawings. • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES,
