Responsibilities The Senior Software Engineer requires a level of technical experience and interpersonal skills to be able to work effectively with business staff, technical team, and third party developers. The ideal candidate is a master of ruthless prioritization and will demonstrate an understanding that delivering robust, maintainable systems is more than just writing code. What you’ll do: - Design and develop high quality, scalable, multi-threaded, multi-tier, web-based applications using the latest technologies and software best practices· Be responsible for collaborating on a cross-functional team in story-mapping exercises; in certain cases sharing the responsibilities with the Principal Engineer in outlining the overall scope and user story process of product developments and enhancements for a project; participate in release plan overview as well as identifying areas of risk & exposure in group discussions· Participate in retrospectives, sprint planning, and sprint reviews for the team· Participate in directing dedicated QA testing resources for the team you’re working on· Work with cross functional team in an agile SDLC; collaborate with product owners, technical team-members, business stakeholders and designers to implement enhancements or new applications· Propose innovative solutions to complex problems· Work closely with local and remote team members and management, to achieve high team morale and productivity· Share best practices and improve processes within and across agile teams What we’re looking for: · Strong communication skills· Energetic & focused on building great software· Facts driven; disciplined, thorough, and detail oriented in the way you write code—always thinking about protecting the customer first· Unafraid of big challenges and brave in the way you pursue technical problems or projects Technical/Business Experience · Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science preferred· 5+ Years of experience as a full-stack engineer· Demonstrated leadership experience, either project or people leadership· Needs strong understanding of quality systems, continuous integration, unit and integration testing· Sound knowledge of Ruby on Rails or Java · Proven strong understanding of design patterns· Proven strong understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture· Background in a MVC-based implementation of a web platform· Demonstrated ability to work well in ambiguous situations and pivot quickly· Demonstrated experience with Agile or Scrum software development methodologies· Proven ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize work Why work for us?
