Job Description

Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) Engineer within an infrastructure environment consisting of: operating systems, storage, virtualization, networks, heterogeneous computing devices and information security. Proficiency as systems engineer for dedicated technologies and escalated support.

Perform the following functions as individual assignments or as part of a team:

  • MECM/SCCM maintenance, ongoing support, training, configuration, troubleshooting and all tasks to do with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager
  • Carry out complex reporting requiring a good knowledge of MECM reports as well as how to achieve more detailed reports as required using Power Shell or other scripting to interrogate the database directly
  • Prepares for and participates in mandated engineering reviews such as a Microsoft RAP
  • Constantly looking for Continuous Service Improvement opportunities for our customers
  • Contributes to the completion of specific programs, projects and annual initiatives
  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts, in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
  • May represent the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects
  • Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, and practicable, and consistent with organization objectives
  • Supervise and support Technical Engineering staff (if required)
  • Implement and manage the Requirement Management processes
  • Implement Configuration Management practices as required by the project
  • Undertake Trade Studies, Prototyping and Investigations as required
  • Work within the boundaries of company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

About You and What You'll Bring

  • Appropriate degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience/combined education, with professional experience and specialised training commensurate with assignment
  • Relevant Professional Memberships desirable

Experience

Professional experience within the relevant technologies and domains including:

  • Monitoring and Management tools – MECM/SCCM, Tivoli, ManageSoft, Altiris
  • Domain experience on protocols including AD, DHCP, DNS, WDS, IIS
  • Data management products including, Microsoft SQL Server with high availability, SSRS
  • Professional experience with data centre virtualization technologies (VMware & Citrix)
  • Professional experience in Systems Engineering using formal engineering methods
  • Professional Experience of the System Lifecycle using standard methodologies and techniques/tools
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently produce excellent results in a complex environment
  • Demonstrated ability in providing direction and coordination to a team of professionals
  • Demonstrated ability in basic application packaging, patching, SOE (Standard Operating Environment), Task Sequence
  • Knowledge of computer security procedures and protocols

Core Technical Skills:

  • Working knowledge of a Microsoft System Centre (SCCM)
  • Working knowledge Microsoft SQL Server
  • Working knowledge of a Networking infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server and Workstation operating systems
  • Working knowledge of server infrastructure and support of server infrastructure across a majority the major server vendors
  • Working Knowledge of Highly Available and DR solutions and configurations
  • Knowledge and professional experience with relational databases
  • Proficiency with administration automation through scripting (shell, python, PowerShell).
  • Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex problems.

The ability to analyse, dissect and re-engineer existing solutions with a focus on elevating efficiency and increasing performance.
