Are you ready to join our team?SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Principal Architect must work independently to develop solutions while collaborating with IT service owners and IT service oering leads to ensure projects and programs are successful. The Principal Architect provides technical guidelines and is responsible for ensuring architectures, standards, and designs are in harmony with enterprise-wide application systems and/or infrastructure.The Principal Architect will work with one to several projects and programs and provides technology and architecture support, while ensuring projects follow Amtrak's processes that support delivering architecturally sustainable solutions. Design technical solutions that address customer's requirements for scalability, reliability, security, and performance and leveraging existing investments in Amtrak's platforms.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Provide IT Security Architectural guidance based on Security Requirements and Corporate IT Architectural Standards • Serve as the Security Lead for multiple projects of varying complexity and size, help deliver security solutions for complex assignments and ensure projects are implemented through the Amtrak DevSecOps process in alignment with Amtrak Security Requirements and IT Architectural Standards • Research vendor solutions proposed by project teams and provide risk assessment. • Work with Enterprise Architecture team to provide secure alternatives to achieve project requirements. • Continuously developing, enhancing, and implementing enterprise wide security standards, procedures, and guidelines. • Develops architecture viewpoints to support multiple projects and programs • Consults clients, IT business analysts, architects and team members in the project planning processes • Builds architectures for projects and programs that triangulate architecture direction, business strategy and project scope that are achievable and practical • Provides technical leadership within IT and business • Determines if existing technologies are useful for solving business problems through t/gap or build/buy processesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related eld with 7+ years relevant work experience or 11+ years of relevant work experience required to satisfy education and experience requirements. • 7 years of programming and/or systems analysis experience • 7 years' experience in solution or enterprise architecturePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Expertise in multiple technical environments and possesses an understanding of business processes, capabilities and functions • Possess in-depth knowledge of the business area of focus and is knowledgeable in most aspects of designing and constructing architectures that incorporate business, data, and technology architectures • Demonstrated ability to synthesize solutions that incorporate multiple stakeholder viewpoints • Expertise in multiple IT disciplines in an enterprise environment • Master's degree Computer Science or complementary discipline • Expertise in integration of enterprise platforms • An understanding of architecture principles, practices and organization • 9+ years of experience preferredCOMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.Requisition ID: 76025 Posting Location(s): District of Columbia; Alabama; Alaska; Arizona; Arkansas; California; Colorado; Connecticut; Delaware; Florida; Georgia; Hawaii; Idaho; Illinois; Indiana; Iowa; Kansas; Kentucky; Louisiana; Maine; Maryland; Massachusetts; Michigan; Minnesota; Mississippi; Missouri; Montana; N/A; Nebraska; Nevada; New Hampshire; New Jersey; New Mexico; New York; North Carolina; North Dakota; Ohio; Oklahoma; Oregon; Pennsylvania; Rhode Island; South Carolina; South Dakota; Tennessee; Texas; Utah; Vermont; Virginia; Washington; West Virginia; Wisconsin; Wyoming Job Family/Function: Information Technology Relocation Offered: No Travel Requirements: Up to 25% Amtrak employees power our progress through their performance.
