Piper Companies is currently seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer for a pharmaceutical company in the Gaithersburg, MD area. Responsibilities for the Senior Packaging Engineer include: • Lead design of packaging systems for drug-delivery devices o Evaluation, design, development and optimization of packaging systems for terminal sterilization and finished product packaging of drug-device combination products o Assessing complex problems relating to materials recommending and implementing solutions o 3D models, engineering drawings, specifications and other design collateral o Develop and execute test plans for development, verification, and validation of designs o Analyze standards (ISO, ASTM, USP, etc.) and guidance documents (FDA, ICH, etc. o Document results in reports such as dFMEA, pFMEA, Risk Management Report • Assist and lend expertise in packaging engineering problem solving activities related to existing and new products for the CNS TAL & Devices R&D Unit. • Maintain Design History File

  • • Oversee evaluation of changes (component, product, process) pre-design transfer.
Qualifications for the Senior Packaging Engineer include: • A minimum of a Bachelor's or advanced degree in the field of Engineering (or similar discipline). Master's degree preferred. • 5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or medical device packaging design and development. Multiple successful product launches preferred. • Experience in design, development and qualification of sterile packaging systems for sterile combination products or medical devices is essential. • Experience in design of packaging systems for ethylene oxide terminal sterilization process is preferred Compensation for the Engineer includes:
  • Salary Range: $70-$80 per hour
