Senior DevOps Engineer

This is a privately held health technology company whose mission is to make prescription drugs more affordable for everyone. We build technology platforms and data solutions that enable our customers to manage pharmacy benefits on behalf of their members, employees, or clients (e.g., health plans, employers, health systems, etc). You'll be a part of a small, remote, energetic, and collaborative team, and your contributions will be critical and highly valued from day one. This role will be partially dedicated to new architecture efforts. We have a flat reporting structure with a lot of opportunities for - creativity; learning; choosing the best tools; making smart improvements; and using the latest technologies locally and in AWS. On-call rotations are usually 1 week out of 4, and we have a trained 24/7 level 1 support team. You will take a lead role in supporting business-critical services within an AWS cloud hosting environment for a growing, fast-paced health care startup. The Senior DevOps Engineer will lead DevOps projects with a strong focus on taking all necessary steps for delivery, such as stakeholder communication and change management. Although we are headquartered in Boston, MA this candidate can be full remote working EST hours.Required Skills & Experience

• 4+ years experience in a DevOps, SRE, or related operational role
• Batchelor's degree or higher preferred
• Good knowledge of essential AWS components and services (EC2, VPC, CloudWatch, S3, IAM). Experience with other components (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, DynamoDB, EMR) is a plus
• Essential networking knowledge including DNS, security certificates, subnets, routing, and VPC peering
• Comfort in at least one scripting language such as Bash, Python, or Powershell (Python and Powershell are typically used internally)
• Past software engineering experience with another language (e.g. C#/Java/JavaScript) is a big plus
• Willingness and ability to learn technologies and tools quickly to take advantage of the latest technical advances in a fast-changing cloud environment
• CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK experience
• Exposure to relational or no-SQL databases
• Windows and/or Linux administration experience is a plus
• Kubernetes and containerization experience (or willingness to learn)
• Flexible, solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving
• AWS certifications are a plus

• Develop, support, and maintain the continuous integration and deployment pipelines in close partnership with the application engineering teams
• Create and help maintain the underlying AWS infrastructure for all hosted applications and services, including EC2 instances (Windows and Linux), virtual networking, and AWS managed services such as API Gateway, EKS (Kubernetes), and SQS
• Document troubleshooting steps/runbooks/procedures via an internal knowledge base and work to share knowledge among team members. Understand the application and deployment environments (.NET/C#, Go, Java) and work closely with engineers, QA, and DBAs to ensure all environments are functional and configured correctly
• Provide architecture, solutions, and implementation support for technical requirements using modern architectural approaches including containers, AWS tools, services, and serverless approaches
• Implement and support observability and alerting tools such as CloudWatch and New Relic for proactive responses to all technical issues
• Champion and implement cloud and application security best practices
• Help grow and champion infrastructure-as-code approaches
• Be available for an on-call rotation schedule to troubleshoot problems and incidents
