Position Overview:The Senior User Experience Designer is primarily responsible for managing the creation of navigation structures and information designs, as well as constructing prototypes, storyboards, and mockups to effectively communicate designs to product management and development. The Senior User Experience Designer role depends greatly on user-centered design research and usability testing to guide their designs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead product management and development teams in defining functional requirements and user needs.
  • Assist the Technical Supervisor in the development and creation of user interface design documentation, standards, and patterns.
  • Develop and manage user experience design documentation repositories including UI standards, personas, workflows, and research data.
  • Present and defend design assets, workflows, and prototypes to peers, product management, development, executive-level stakeholders, and external stakeholders. Coach and mentor other team members to ensure quality in their presentations.
  • Develop expert level mockup/prototype interaction designs, including user interaction models, information architecture, wireframes, and screen flows.
  • Mentor and work with all teammates to conduct advanced customer studies of mockups, prototypes, and existing interfaces; and iterate designs based on usability test results.
  • Facilitate and lead expert-driven design activities to synthesize ideas, define problems, clarify solutions, and explicate rationale.
  • Define the framework for reviewing analytical data including runtime intelligence, user surveys, and usability tests to get a clear understanding of user needs for upcoming designs.
  • Conduct expert level competitive analysis and demonstrate an unparalleled awareness of industry trends.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
  • 10-14 years’ of UX/UI Design experience for complex, highly technical software applications or 8+ years’ experience with Mastercam.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in UX, Digital Design, Programming, or related field.
  • An extensive portfolio that displays a thorough understanding of the design lifecycle, from conceptual design through production, via a wide array of deliverables such as empathy maps, task analysis and flows, journey maps, wireframes, mockups and production versions of final design.
  • Extensive experience designing solutions for complex engineering problems, preferably in the CAD/CAM market.
  • Extensive experience with a variety of software packages including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and UX specific wireframing tools such as Axure.
  • Expert level experience designing for an international audience.
  • Advanced experience with designing for disabilities, including knowledge of Section 508 ADA requirements.
  • Extensive experience with front-end development and modern user interface technologies such as XAML/WPF and HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript, and experience with a variety of content management systems (DNN, WordPress, etc.) is a strong plus.
  • Exceptional communication, written and presentation skills with a strong customer focus.
  • Extensive analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with colleagues at all levels.
  • Extensive experience with project management, product management, or other leadership roles.
  • Unparalleled ability to work independently, with self-direction, to complete tasks and projects in a pro-active manner.
  • Expert ability to manage several projects/tasks at once while projecting a positive outward demeanor.
  • Exceptional ability to work with difficult customers and in stressful situations.
  • Expert ability to explain and advocate usability and user-centered design within the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and provide guidance to team members with less experience.
