Qualifications You may be considered for GS-2210 Series if you possess information technology related experience demonstrating each of the four required competencies:
  • Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  • Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  • Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
  • For GS-14: In addition to the above GS-2210 Series competencies requirement, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level performing all of the following duties:
  • Performing IT project manager, supervisory, team lead duties (i.e., overseeing work assignments, providing input into the evaluation of employee performance, and assigning work to staff);
  • Applying IT project management principles, methods, and practices including developing plans, schedules, performance measurement tools for analysis and estimating resource requirements;
  • Applying risk management processes such as methods for assessing and mitigating project risk;
  • Applying system life cycle management principles to include software security and usability.
  • National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.     Promotion Potential: This position is at the full performance level.

    This is a supervisory position. Under provisions of the Civil Service Reform Act, first time supervisors and/or managers will be required to serve a one-year probationary period. You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training course within one year of assignment to this position. One or more positions may be filled using this vacancy announcement.
