Senior Java AWS Platform Engineer

A global leader in entertainment and film is looking to hire a Senior Java Platform Engineer to build out AWS based Cloud applications and contribute to their automation code base. This will be a 1 year Contract to Hire Opportunity and they can pay up to $80/hr for the right candidate. This is a Fortune 500 entertainment company in the film and entertainment industry. The ideal candidate has a background in core Java building applications at scale with a knack for modern processes, especially around testing, automation and deployment strategy for their AWS-based applications. Tools like Terraform, Docker, and Jenkins are desired for this part of the role, but most important is attitude. • 5+ Years experience as a Software Engineer or DevOps Engineer
• Strong programming in Java (8 or 11 preferred)
• API development, specifically REST
• Experience with Spring or other commonly used web framework
• Some experience in a public cloud environment (AWS most preferred)
• QA foundation and ability to develop your own unit and integration tests
• Databases - SQL and/or noSQL
• Excellent communication
• Strong sense of ownership over your work
• Problem-solving mindset
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar field; additional experience considered in lieu of a degree

• Experience microservice and/or event-driven design patterns like CQRS
• SpringBoot, Quarkus, Micronaut or similar framework for microservices
• Experience with AWS Cloud offerings like Lambda, DynamoDB
• Tools for CI/CD like Jenkins or Gitlab
• Docker/Kubernetes for containerization
• Some knowledge of automation scripting with Python or Bash
• Terraform for IaaS
• Code coverage tools like Mockito
• Testing tools like JUnit, TestNG, Selenium, JMeter, etc.
